Lionsgate has debuted the trailer for You're Next, the savage home invasion film from director Adam Wingard which stars Sharni Vinson, Rob Moran, Barbara Crampton, Ti West, Wendy Glenn, Amy Seimetz, Joe Swanberg, AJ Bowen and Nicholas Tucci.

It's not secret that we're in love with Adam Wingard's You're Next.  The film earned a rave review from me last year and I'm eager to revisit it again with the rest of you when it opens in theaters on August 23rd from Lionsgate.  Today, the studio is officially unleashing it's "animals" via series of teaser posters connected to the film.

The film is set during a family reunion getaway where the Davison family comes under a sadistic attack. When Crispian Davison (AJ Bowen) brings his new girlfriend (Sharni Vinson) along to celebrate the wedding anniversary of his parents (Rob Moran and Barbara Crampton), the family's evening together is shattered when a gang of mysterious killers begin to hunt the family down with brutal precision. Unfortunately for the killers however, one of the victims harbors a secret talent for fighting back.

It's been a pretty long journey for Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett's home invasion thriller You're Next since it debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2011, but Lionsgate has started to gear up for the movie's August 23rd release with another boisterous midnight screening at the South by Southwest Film Festival. 

In the movie, Australian actress Sharni Vinson plays Erin, who is brought by her boyfriend Crispian (A.J. Bowen) to his parent's 35th Anniversary family gathering at their remote estate in the woods where they're set upon by a group of masked killers in a brutal home invasion. As they're picked off one by one, Erin is forced to fight back and get as violent as their assailants.

The day after the movie's first screening in Austin since Fantastic Fest, ShockTillYouDrop.com had a chance to sit down with Wingard and Vinson to talk about the movie, and you can watch both those video interviews after the jump.

The South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated features in the Midnighters section which will debut at this year’s Festival from March 8 – 16, 2013 in Austin, Texas.  

A lot of familiar names are contributing to this year's line-up including Vincenzo Natali, Rob Zombie, Mike Mendez, Rob Zombie, Dennis Iliadis, E.L. Katz and more.

To assure horror fans that You're Next is indeed arriving in 2013, Lionsgate has blasted the press with confirmation that the film is opening August 23rd and in anticipation of this release, two new images have been revealed.

The studio is describing the Adam Wingard film like this:  "One of the smartest and most terrifying films in years, You're Next reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped...until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all."

A year ago, Lionsgate snatched up the highly-praised survival horror film You're Next and set it gently on its shelf to collect dust while the powers-that-be sorted out a release date.  

The going rumor at the time was it was going to open in October of this year.  Clearly, that is not the case.  Ah, but we bring good news, via Collider.  The movie has a release date.  The bad news?  You're going to be waiting a bit longer.

Perhaps the most rousing screening of Fantastic Fest 2011 was You're Next, the latest psychocharged collaboration of director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett that was snapped up by Lionsgate for distribution. I can see the urgency behind the acquisition. You're Next is one of the best home invasion films ever made, a tight, firing-on-all-cylinders, hyper-violent and clever thriller that also simply stands as the finest horror flick of the year.

Here's what you pretty much already know: A family reunion takes a turn for the worst when black-clad killers, armed to the teeth and wearing unsettling animal masks crash this gathering's affluent, secluded home and begin bumping everyone off. What these invaders don't know, is that there is an unlikely survivalist attending this party. She's lithe. Resourceful. Australian. A serious ass-kicker. And she isn't going down without a fight.
