At this point, filmmaker James Gunn has a pretty decent run of genre movies under his belt, writing the screenplays for Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake and the Scooby Doo film before getting behind the camera to direct twisted movies like Slither and last year's violent superhero tale Super.
In the last few years, Gunn's been exploring a variety of other mediums with his hilariously irreverent webseries "PG Porn" and as a judge on the reality TV show "Scream Queens," so it was only a matter of time before he'd finally bring his sense of humor and love for gore to video games with Lollipop Chainsaw, which follows the journey of Juliet Starling, a cheerleader with a chainsaw, who must take on a high school full of zombies.
ShockTillYouDrop.com got on the phone with one of our favorite filmmakers to interview, a couple weeks back, and he was as enthusiastic and funny when talking about his latest project as he is for any of his movies.

E3 is upon us and the game news is a-flowin'. On the horror tip, Capcom has officially released its full trailer for Resident Evil 6, expected to hit on October 2nd.
It has been ten years since the incident at Raccoon City and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place. Raccoon City survivor and personal friend of the President, Leon S. Kennedy, arrives to find the President transformed beyond recognition by a bioterrorist attack. Leon is forced to make the hardest decision he has ever made. Ahead of E3, Konami has revealed its trailer for the forthcoming game Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. This teaser is pretty gorgeous as it depicts Gabriel Belmont, the game's protagonist, taking on an army with his supernatural abilities. The game is expected to arrive sometime in 2013.
Following the success of Chronicle, director Josh Trank's future was up in the air. Does he do a sequel? The Fantastic Four reboot? The Spider-Man spin-off, Venom? Which project does he tackle next? Who knows? But the bottom line was: Trank was in a good place with lots of options.
Deadline is reporting he'll - at some point - take on the video game adaptation Shadow of Colossus for Sony Pictures. And what an undertaking this film is going to be.
It's usually a bittersweet moment when a comic book becomes a video game. As a fan, we get excited because it's our favorite comic book come to life and we get to be a part of it, but more often than not it's about as disappointing as when one of the "big two" announce a big summer event series and it is ultimately lackluster (looking at you Avengers vs X-Men). Having said that, there are still plenty of comic books out there that could do with a good video game.
If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that while I don't play a lot of video games, Batman: Arkham City really captured me as it did everyone else. That game is nearly perfect and the same formula could be applied to essentially any comic book hero or series and it would work. For the sake of not sounding repetitive, I've limited myself to only choosing the Arkham City formula for one series, just so we can have a wide variety of styles here.
Now, let's put something on the proverbial table here before we get cracking. This list is, of course, my opinion and the style of video game that I've chosen for each comic book might not be what you consider “fun” or “cool” or whatever the kids say these days but it's what I like, so let's be cool in the comments section.
The TV show and comic book have gone on very different paths, but one thing has remained constant: The Walking Dead characters constantly face tough choices. Kill a zombie or sneak past it? Risk your life for supplies or escape to safety and hope for a better opportunity later? Chop a dude’s hand off or leave him to do it himself? It provides a lot of “What would I do in that situation” type thinking, so it’s no surprise that the franchise’s first video game is all about choices, with minimal action.
And who better to deliver that sort of gameplay-lite approach to a big license than Telltale Games, who have tackled Jurassic Park and Back To The Future as well? I’m sure some folks would prefer a Resident Evil type survival horror adventure game, but this version actually fits the approach of the comic quite nicely – lots of talk, lots of characters, minimal but just enough action to keep you interested…in terms of the original work’s spirit, it’s probably one of the most successful licensed games in recent memory.

The baby Starling of the family, Rosalind, might only be 16, but that doesn’t mean she can’t slay zombies, too!

Kanemoto was asked by Telltale to create the trailer because of a "fan made" Walking Dead title sequence he had made, which can be seen at Exmortisfilms.com.
The last time we caught up to writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson it was on the set of Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth film in the Screen Gems series spawned from the Capcom video games. Since then, we've seen a teaser trailer make its premiere, giving us a sense of what's to come.
At WonderCon 2012 in Anaheim, California, Shock Till You Drop reconnected with the man to find out where he's at in the production process and to discuss new creatures, opening up the Resident Evil world and those supposed flashbacks that were hinted at in the teaser.

The results were pretty ridiculous. And there was a wealth of lovely ladies to choose from, all donning Juliet's wardrobe and weapon of choice. The parties involved in this contest have found their top 3 choices, however. You'll find them within.

Leon is forced to make the hardest decision he has ever made.

You enter a typical soundstage. It's all cables and beams, wood and iron. Crew members are layered in sweaters and long pants to fight off the chill inside. The brave ones wear shorts. At the soundstage's entrance is a Christmas tree; its yuletide glow is tarnished by the fake corpse of an Umbrella Corporation soldier propped up in a chair next to it. Behind him, a pane of glass splattered with blood.
Welcome to Camp Evil.
Weaving in an out of the gaffers, grips and production assistants, you try not to trip yourself on the minefield of apple boxes, power strips and black cables stretching out into the shadows. There's a gigantic set to the left. White pillars stretching to the ceiling and pristine, glossy white floor tiles being dismantled. Crew members work at a hurried pace to bring the set down by the end of the day. If one were to set up a camera and shoot this process with time lapse photography, the playback would be akin to watching ants working over a fresh carcass, stripping meat from a bone.
This set is just the front half of the soundstage. The remaining square acres are a different story, hell, different environment entirely. It's a set built to impress.
What stretches out before you is a white, icy landscape. Fake snow drifts lazily to the ground. Ahead, lying on its side like a wounded animal is some sort of all-terrain vehicle. And jutting out of the "ice" from below is a submarine conning tower, Umbrella logo emblazoned on the side.
Thank God for Milla Jovovich's faux fireplace - a metal and glass box embedded in the wall that emits a nflickering glow like a fireplace and jettisons hot air. Toronto, Canada in mid-December is a frigid place. But, courtesy of the actress, she has visiting press members huddled around her trailer's fireplace in a semi-circle while she sits casually on the floor in the middle, digital recorders strewn before her. The iPhone with the bedazzled case featuring the signature red and white Umbrella Corporation logo? Yeah, that's hers.
Jovovich is prepping for a big showdown sequence today on the set of Resident Evil: Retribution. A stand-off situation that will ultimately transpire into a guns a-blazin', fists a-flyin' brawl between her character, Alice, and Sienna Guillory's Jill Valentine. And her excitement hasn't wavered. Not after nearly 10 years of living with the Resident Evil franchise, moreover, Alice - a woman who woke up in a ominous mansion, rediscovered some of her past, learned she was infected with the T-virus, had made friends, seen friends die and fought off endless waves of zombies and assorted creatures, big and small.
Sony's Screen Gems has premiered the hi-res trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil: Retribution.

Keep your eyes peeled to Shock, in just a few hours, we'll be running our full set report featuring interviews with the cast and crew!

The third and final story, illustrated by Victor Drujiniu, is "The Labyrinth" and provides fans a deeper look into the backstory of Prototype 2’s new protagonist, Sgt. James Heller.
