Robert Kirkman Talks The Walking Dead Season 4

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

Warning: Spoilers for the Season 3 finale of The Walking Dead...

The Walking Dead closed out its third season this past Sunday and fans are already wondering how it's going to play out in the fourth season, which begins this fall.

IGN spoke with The Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman about what we can expect in the upcoming sixteen episode season. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

"Rick has had a success. The people at the prison have survived this conflict with the Governor, he brought people from Woodbury into the prison, and he’s kind of had this big win. He’s had this moment where he’s brought people together and he’s doing good things. But he’s had this tremendous loss in that Carl has lost this piece of his humanity. This has been Rick’s main mission throughout the show, to protect his family. We’ve seen two very big failures on that front this season."

Five New Photos from Hannibal Tease More Grotesque Murders

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

We're less than a week away from the debut of NBC's new series Hannibal and five more images have been revealed - these are in addition to this nasty bit o' business we showed you earlier.  The pics are images from episodes one and two.  Check 'em out inside and read our review right here.

The series looks at the early days of FBI agent Will Graham's career and the time when he worked alongside Hannibal Lecter - naturally, before Graham realized Lecter was a cannibal. It appears the series is taking a few creative liberties, picking up with Graham being drawn back into the FBI game, which is where we saw him in Red Dragon/Manhunter, but in that book/film, Lecter had already been capture and Will was mentally exhausted/scarred by his time in the field.

Monday, March 25, 2013

Over the course of her 30-year career, producer Gale Anne Hurd has been involved with many fan favorite genre properties from Terminator to Marvel's Hulk and The Punisher, but few could have seen that only her second foray into television as executive producer of an AMC TV show - based on Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's zombie comic The Walking Dead - would overshadow some of her previous achievements as a producer.

This coming Sunday, March 31st, season three of the show will come to a close.  This season brought in popular comic characters like Michonne and The Governor while creating a season-long conflict between the inhabitants of the prison and those of Woodbury.

Video from Under the Dome Set Reveals Jeff Fahey is Back in King Territory

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Actor Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) took to Twitter to post his Vine video (how social networking savvy he is!) from the set of Under the Dome, the Stephen King adaptation.  While, sure, there are images of split cows (when the dome comes down, no animal is spared) in the video, but the news here is that there's a shot of Jeff Fahey!

Yes, it looks like the actor - who appeared in The Lawnmower Man, Lost and Psycho III - is back in King territory.  Judging by the costume, it looks like he's a cop in this tale.  Chad Vogel, Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong, Britt Robertson, Aisha Hinds, Alex Koch, Natalie Martinez and Colin Ford also star.

Norris plays Big Jim Renny, the troublemaker of the novel.  Under the Dome, a 13-part series, kicks off on June 24th on CBS.  The video is inside.  You'll find cows, burning plane wreckage, Vogel and more.

New Hemlock Grove Trailer Looks Angsty

Monday, March 18, 2013

The latest trailer for Hemlock Grove - the new Netflix original series hitting April 19th - has hit the web and, well, I didn't expect this.  Then again, I never read the source material it is based upon (a novel by Brian McGreevy).  There's a werewolf or some sort of monster in this mix of melodrama, but you won't see it here.  Regardless of the trailer, I'll be binge-watching this the weekend of its release.

Executive produced by Eli Roth (who directed the first episode) and based on the novel by Brian McGreevy, the series stars Lili Taylor, Landon Liboiron, Famke Janssen, Bill Skarsgard, Dougray Scott, Freya Tingley, Aaron Douglas and Penelope Mitchell.  The show revolves around the murder of a young girl found close to the former Godfrey steel mill. Listen to the All-New BloodCast Hosted By ShockTillYouDrop.com's Ryan Turek

Monday, March 11, 2013

Podcasting is a tricky thing and up until 2011 or so I made a concentrated effort to dig into the medium as an extension of the work I do here.  A podcast called "Shock Waves" - a joint effort between myself and Lawrence Raffel at FEARnet - was born of that and it had a good run.  But as things are wont to do in entertainment, changes occurred.

The folks at GeekNation (longtime friends of ours) were reaching out to some really good folks in horror (Fangoria, FEARnet, Icons of Fright) to assist in horror-themed podcasts.  Their longest running, weekly podcast, appropriately called "The BloodCast," was seeing its host - C.J. Arabia - step down and she needed someone to take over.  So, yours truly stepped in.  The BloodCast's 29th episode is a "passing of the torch" entry and you can now listen to it inside.  We explain what the podcast will focus on (mostly "horror on TV") and more.  Give it a listen and we hope you dig it...

On April 19th, get ready for some extreme television binge-watching as that is the day Netflix debuts all 13 episodes in its horror series Hemlock Grove.  It's the next "original series" from Netflix - found via its Netflix Instant service - after House of Cards (which proved to be wildly successful) and, today, the poster art for Hemlock was released.  You can find it inside.

The suspects in her killing include Peter (Liboiron), a 17-year-old Gypsy kid from the wrong side of the tracks, and Roman (Skarsgard), the arrogant Godfrey Scion, whose sister Shelley is disturbingly deformed and whose mother, Olivia (Janssen), is the beautiful and controlling grand dame of Hemlock Grove.  Watch the trailer right here.
