MGM to Remake The Town That Dreaded Sundown

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

The 1976 film The Town That Dread Sundown is the next horror title to get loaded into the remake cannon.  Variety picked up on the buzz that MGM is currently fielding pitches from writers to redo the film; so while it's a bit early out, at least you know now that the studio has the intent to revisit the film.

Charles B. Pierce directed the original tale which was set against the backdrop of Texarkana where its residents were terrorized by the "Phantom Killer" during the late '40s.  The murderer wore a white hood over his head and the film is loosely based on a true story, so it's perfect fodder for the Hollywood remake train.

Check out the trailer for the film inside.
