Let's hit you with a barrage of casting news this morning, shall we? We'll start with The Sixth Gun, a pilot in the works at NBC. Laura Ramsey (The Ruins) has joined the cast as a young farmer's daughter.
Based on the Oni comic book, the proposed series is set "during the darkest days of the Civil War when wicked cutthroats came into possession of six pistols of otherworldly power. In time the Sixth Gun, the most dangerous of the weapons, vanished. When the gun surfaces in the hands of an innocent girl, dark forces reawaken. Vile men thought long dead set their sights on retrieving the gun and killing the girl. Only Drake Sinclair, a gunfighter with a shadowy past, stands in their way."

Deadline is reporting that television director Jeffrey Reiner has been brought on to direct the pilot for The Sixth Gun, an adaptation of the Oni Press comic book series. NBC is producing the show with LOST co-creator Carlton Cuse and screenwriter Ryan Condal executive producing. Reiner is no stranger to comic book adaptations as he directed the pilot for David E. Kelley's failed Wonder Woman in 2011.

The entertainment industry is pushing into pilot season, that time when networks load up on material, give the green light order to pilots for potential television shows and, overall, spend a lot of money on projects that might not even happen. While it's tough to tell what will hit and what will miss (most pilots will never been seen beyond a network office), we'll do our best to keep you posted on what might be coming to the small screen near you.
