WonderCon: James Wan's The Conjuring Panel

Saturday, March 30, 2013
Warner Bros. opened their WonderCon panel today with an early look at James Wan's The Conjuring, which stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver and Sterling Jerins.
Two scenes launched the panel. In the first, Lili Taylor's Carolyn Perron is playing hide-and-seek with her daughters, Christine (Joey King) and Nancy (Mackenzie Foy). The mother is blindfolded, but she's allowed to ask for three different claps from the girls to track them down.
Carolyn laughs as she steps into a bedroom with a wardrobe in the corner. She asks for a clap and hears something coming from the wardrobe. She moves towards it and we can see something moving behind the clothes inside. She thinks she's found one of her daughters, but she suddenly hears laughter coming from another room. She pulls off the blindfold and realizes that nothing is there.

Six Genre Movies I'm Eager to See in 2013
Ryan Turek
Monday, December 31, 2012
This piece was originally posted in November, but with 2013 nearly upon us...why not dust it off?
My annual "most anticipated" list is upon us - I'm just switching up the headline to make it a bit more personal as the following titles, yes, represent the movies I'm eager to see in 2013. Now, I've done this long enough to know I have to set down certain criteria or run the risk of comments like, "You idiot! What about [insert title here]? I'm excited about it and you should be, too!"
Here is how this list breaks down.
The following represent films that have locked release dates. It also represents films I have not seen - that means You're Next and Maniac are off the list (but both come recommended). If it's not on the list, I've either seen it or I just don't give a damn. There are some films that are either shooting now or are in post-production that are likely to hit in the latter half of 2013, but that's not for certain, so those are off the list, too. I'll make mention of a few "in the works" titles I'm curious about at the end.
That said, head inside for my random thoughts on what is to come and what's getting me excited. We'll start with my #1 pick...

Saturday was a big day at New York Comic Con, but things really got going with the debut of the first footage from Saw and Insidious director James Wan's new horror film The Conjuring (formerly "The Warren Files"), starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
It's a period horror film set in the early '70s dealing with their investigation of a farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island where spirits were plaguing a family with Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor playing the parents of said family.
Before the panel, ShockTillYouDrop.com had a chance to speak with Wan and actor Patrick Wilson, who had worked together on last year's horror hit Insidious. You can watch those interviews and read more about the panel and footage shown after the jump.

Warner Bros. has opted to make James Wan's next supernatural thriller, The Conjuring, a summer film. Originally slated for a January 25th release, the flick will now open on July 19, 2013. Tuesday, July 24, 2012
New Line has set a release date for the latest film from James Wan (Insidious). The Conjuring (aka The Warren Files, we're not certain which title the film will officially go out with yet) is set to open in theaters on January 25, 2013. That gives the film a bit of distance from Lionsgate's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, opening on January 4th.

Following the news earlier this week that Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson had joined the cast of James Wan's The Conjuring, comes word, via The Hollywood Reporter, that Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor are signing on as well.
The project, which the article suggests may have revereted to an untitled status, takes place in the 1970's and is based on the book "House of Darkness, House of Light: The True Story" by Andrea Perron. In the 1970s, the Perrons lived in a Rhode Island home that was claimed to have been a portal for friendly and evil spirits.
Farmiga, Wilson Join the Cast of James Wan's The Conjuring

Friday, January 20, 2012
James Wan has found his two lead cast members for The Conjuring, the new supernatural thriller we first told you about back in December.
The picture will find Wan reuniting with his Insidious star, Patrick Wilson, and Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Orphan). Contrary to our previous report, however, this is doesn't appear to be the "life story" of Ed and Lorraine Warren. Instead, this is about one of the many supernatural cases they investigated: The true story of the Perron family.
