Lionsgate’s Texas Chainsaw 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.
Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars.

Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters Skewer Box Office Competition, January Eyed As Prime Real Estate for Horror
Ryan Turek
Sunday, January 27, 2013
Another January weekend and another horror project hitting the top of the box office.
This weekend, it was Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Tommy Wirkola's horror-actioner starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.
The film grossed an estimated $19 million - not quite hitting the projected numbers analysts were putting it at (on Friday, some said it would hit $25 million), still, not shabby for a film that is at 15% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
Mama came in at number two with an estimated $12.8 million bringing that film's total to $48.6 million.
Mama Takes Number One Spot at the Box Office
Ryan Turek
Sunday, January 20, 2013
Horror is back on top at the box office in 2013. Universal's Mama, produced by Guillermo del Toro and starring Jessica Chastain, came in at number one, grossing an estimated $28.1 million for the 3-day weekend (not counting the Martin Luther King holiday tomorrow). The film bumped another Chastain picture, Zero Dark Thirty, from its top spot down to number two. This is the second horror release of 2013 to open big.
Texas Chainsaw 3D Wins the Weekend

Sunday, January 06, 2013
Audiences have shown there is still love out there for Leatherface. Texas Chainsaw 3D took the number one spot at the box office this weekend, grossing $23 million.
The direct sequel to Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre dethroned The Hobbit which has been tops at the box office. The film also performed better in its opening weekend than Leatherface's last outing in theaters, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, which grossed $18.5 million in its debut.
Alexandra Daddario On the Future of the Texas Chainsaw Series
Ryan Turek
Saturday, January 05, 2013
Originally posted December 19, 2012, but felt we needed to resurrect it in light of the film's opening weekend.
When Texas Chainsaw 3D arrives in theaters January 4th, it will - if producer Carl Mazzacone has his way - kick off a series of sequels inspired by the new story arc presented in the film. And according to Alexandra Daddario, she's on board for the ride.
ShockTillYouDrop.com spoke with the actress yesterday in Los Angeles where she told us she is "locked in" for another round of Texas Chainsaw.
"I was really excited to be a part of the franchise and I'm grateful and be happy to do another one, it'd be great," she said.
Review: Texas Chainsaw 3D
Ryan Turek
Thursday, January 03, 2013

Texas Chainsaw 3D is the most polished, expensive Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan film I've ever seen.
That could be a good thing or that could be bad thing, depending on how you look at it. Me? I don't see that as, nor am I using it, as a compliment.
Like a fan film, Texas Chainsaw's heart is in the right place and it goes through some the motions of what we've seen before. It painstakingly scrutinizes the minute details of its predecessor (this entry ignores everything after Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre) to be "familiar" and "true" to the series canon. But it's a lunk-headed, often silly (like many fan films), effort that lacks logic and makes the crucial mistake of misfiring in its depiction of Leatherface. It earns points for steering the series into new, potentially interesting territory, but boy, did they screw up in its execution.

Alexandra Daddario Talks 'New, Unique' Texas Chainsaw 3D
Ryan Turek
Wednesday, January 02, 2013
Tomorrow, I'll be posting my one-on-two video interview with Alexandra Daddario and Trey Songz, the stars of this Friday's release Texas Chainsaw 3D. Shortly after that interview took place, I had a few extra minutes to pick Daddario's brain about the film and her role in which she plays a young woman who inherits a family home only to discover that Leatherface resides there.
"I wasn't all that familiar with the Texas Chainsaw franchise and I knew who Leatherface was, but I had never seen any of the films so I didn't know what the meaning behind it was," Daddario said when asked if she understood early on her character's importance in relation to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre legacy when she first read the script. "Watching the original film and other films and researching it, I got to understand [who my] character is and what it means to the franchise and that's when it all became a lot more meaningful for me."

Tuesday, December 11, 2012
Lionsgate has begin to populate my neighborhood with billboards for Texas Chainsaw 3D and they feature yet even more new poster art.
I'm going to see if I can try and get a clean version as this is a bit raw. Also, what you cannot see is that Leatherface is actually wearing what appears to be the original mask we see him in when we first meet him in Tobe Hooper's original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The new film opens January 4th. Head inside for a look.

Texas Chainsaw 3D Set Report: The Massacre Continues Over Three Decades Later
Ryan Turek
Wednesday, October 17, 2012
A stand-off is about to go down at the Sawyer house and it might get pretty ugly. The day is certainly welcoming a confrontation or an explosion of violence. The air is buzzing incessantly with the sound cicadas. The sun is uncompromising. It’s so hot, if the ground cracked open and magma spilled forth, this writer wouldn’t be surprised.
Inside the abode, the cannibalistic Sawyer clan waits, sweating and armed to the teeth. They’re huddled by a curtained window watching intently at the police squad car pulling up to their front porch. The man of the law is joined by a mass of citizen vehicles, all makes and models from the ‘70s. Back inside the house, moreover, the kitchen, Drayton Sawyer and the oafish man known in the horror pantheon as Leatherface, clash - Drayton playing the alpha male role - while the body of a burly fella (hello, driver of the Black Maria!) lies dead on a nearby table.
This is the scene ShockTillYouDrop.com is welcomed with when we arrive on the Shreveport, Louisiana set of Texas Chainsaw 3D, the latest chapter in the franchise. This entry is directed by John Luessenhop (Takers) and stars Alexandra Daddario, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood and Trey Songz with a few other familiar faces (and we’re not talking about the “faces” worn by Leatherface himself…zing!).

An MPAA Update on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, Trailer Coming Soon?
Ryan Turek
Wednesday, August 22, 2012
We're not ones to give MPAA ratings their own stories, but this update concerns a film we haven't heard about for a while and there seems to be some growing concern (at least, that's what I glean from those of you who write in on our Facebook page) that it is even coming out at all. And, that film is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.
Presently, Lionsgate is aiming to release the film on January 4th and, today, the MPAA weighed in, giving it an R rating (duh) for "strong, grisly violence and language throughout."
This rating announcement could mean that a trailer is just around the corner. I'm suspecting we might see something riding along with the release of The Possession next week, which Lionsgate is handling. Makes sense.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre Joins Halloween Horror Nights
ShockTillYouDrop.com
Thursday, August 16, 2012
Universal Studios Hollywood are gearing up for their annual "Halloween Horror Nights" and joining this year's line-up is a new maze called "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Saw is the Law" based on Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic, and they've created a brand new teaser for the maze, which you can watch after the jump. "Halloween Horror Nights" begins on Friday, September 21 and runs through October 31.
Incidentally, ShockTillYouDrop recently learned that both the Evil Dead and Carrie remakes will be represented in the Los Angeles area around Halloween time, and we'll report more details on those once we receive them. You can read more about Evil Dead's Knott's Scary Farm ride here.
In the meantime, here's the official press release from Universal Studios Hollywood:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D & Sinister Get Moved
Edward Douglas
Friday, February 24, 2012
Finding a release date can be tricky for any horror movie, though one has to figure that October is still the best month for the genre as seen by the success of the "Saw" and "Paranormal Activity" movies and dozens of others, including Marcus Nispel's 2003 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.
That's why it's kind of surprising that ERC is reporting Lionsgate has moved their upcoming reboot of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D back three months from its original pre-Halloween release date of October 5 to the first weekend of 2013 with a release on January 4. The ink on that release date change hadn't even dried before Summit jumped on the now-open October 5 as the new release date for Scott (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) Derrickson's found footage movie Sinister starring Ethan Hawke and Vincent D'Onofrio.
