A sizzle reel of sorts has hit the web featuring the team behind the RoboCop remake talking about the forthcoming film and all that they have in store for it. It's a talking heads piece, yes, but it comes armed with an arsenal of concept art and I love that kind of stuff.
Most revealing is concept art for the first suit Alex Murphy wears. It pays homage to the original and presents something "updated."

The Fringe is a place where non-horror genre films can get some play on Shock. These films might be sci-fi, fantasy or action - and certainly contain some horror elements - but will likely be light on scares, or, straight-up "horror." Still, they might be of interest to you.
It seems MGM isn't playing around with their new RoboCop film. They're already got Joel Kinnaman playing Alex Murphy with Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson set to accompany him. Now, according to Deadline, they've tagged Abbie Cornish to take on the female lead in the film and it's not who you would expect. Instead of Murphy's former partner Anne Lewis, she'll actually be playing the wife of Alex Murphy who assumes after his death that she is a widow.

In addition to Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman, the RoboCop remake is now going to star Samuel L. Jackson. This guy is destined to make his mark on every franchise out there, it seems.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson will play a powerful television mogul named Pat Novak. Apparently, he's a heavy-hitter in the world of RoboCop. Kinnaman, as you know, is Alex Murphy/RoboCop and Oldman is his creator.
Jose Padilha is directing.

Gary Oldman. As if the guy can't get any more bad-ass with the roles he has chosen, the man is now going to be starring in the RoboCop remake as "Norton," the scientist responsible for RoboCop's creation.
The Hollywood Reporter says Norton "finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation." With Oldman's character, we're already seeing a bit of a departure from the original '80s film. The scientists responsible for the creation of RoboCop were mostly background characters, faceless - somewhat comedic - entities.

Attached to the project earlier this month, Snabba Cash star Joel Kinnaman spoke today with MTV and dropped a few details about his upcoming role as Officer Alex Murphy in Jose Padilha's reboot of RoboCop.
"There's a lot of neuroscience now raising the question, 'Is all the intelligence in the human body in the brain?'" Kinnaman explains, "and they’re finding out that, no, it’s not like that. The body has intelligence itself, and we’re much more of an organic creature in that way. It's not a control tower that does everything."
In addition to a more scientific approach, Kinnaman says that the humanity of Murphy will be played up in ways that include a redesign of the RoboCop costume.
