IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that Prometheus, director Ridley Scott’s return to the Alien universe, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX 3D format and released in IMAX digital and film theatres domestically and in a select number of IMAX theatres internationally, starting June 8, 2012.

Sir Ridley directs and produces the film, which is written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof. Prometheus: An IMAX 3D Experience features a stellar international cast that includes Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron.

A brand new image from Ridley Scott's Prometheus surfaced today by way of some viral fun that was taking place at Weyland Industries.  Granted, it's an image we saw teased in the trailer released a bit ago, but it's still pretty stunning.

The highly-anticipated film hitting theaters on June 8th, Ridley Scott's Prometheus has just launched a viral promotion that features Guy Pearce as a man very familiar to fans of the Alien film series: Peter Weyland.

Prometheus has not even graced the screen yet and, already, sequel rumblings have begun.  Shock has been privy to some of this talk, hearing that the film is actually a two-parter and, should the movie do well, we might see more pre-Alien goodness unfold in theaters.  Now, director Ridley Scott is fanning the rumor mill flames.

Here, I'll answer that headline for you: Of course you do!

The latest image takes you back into that bizarre chamber we've seen in the Prometheus trailer and other pics - the set with the giant head and "urn"-looking shapes resting on the floor.  Go on, you want to see it, I know you do...

Oh, trailer mash-ups.  You know how I feel about them (especially if you follow our Twitter feed), and I can get occassionally grumpy about the subject, but some of you out there will likely groove to this.  One of the team members at Crave - our big papa site - recently created a trailer called Lion King Rises, which combined, you guessed it, The Lion King and The Dark Knight Rises.  

This time, they have dished out a combo of WALL-E and Prometheus entitled WALL-ETHEUS.  And yeah, it works...

20th Century Fox has released, through USA Today, a brand new still from Ridley Scott's Prometheus, starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Logan Marshall-Green and Patrick Wilson.

The sci-fi thriller, opening June 8th, takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery.

After seeing the trailer for Prometheus, you have to wonder who will be the sole survivor - or at least one of the survivors - of the film.  And something, for me, keeps pointing to Charlize Theron.  My gut keeps telling me that, although I have no evidence.  Next to star Noomi Rapace, you see Theron's character hauling ass away from the space ship (seen in Alien) that's crashing at the end of the trailer.  Perhaps she survives the whole ordeal?

Okay, enough speculation...  Theron spoke with Total Film about her character, explaining her part in it all.

20th Century Fox is currently counting down the Thursday online launch of the trailer for Ridley Scott's Prometheus at iTunes Movie Trailers with daily teaser clips, but we've received word that you can actually see the trailer in theaters starting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. nationwide with David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo!

20th Century Fox has released a teaser for Ridley Scott's Prometheus.  It's not a trailer, mind you.  It's a teaser for the trailer which is going to be hitting the web in about three days.  Still, there are plenty of clips to behold and sound bites of Ridley Scott playing it up.  It's just enough to get you crazy excited and hitting the "pause" button to analyze every frame.  (Is it me or is someone's suit getting hit with "acid blood" at the end?)

There is a pretty stellar interview with Ridley Scott about Prometheus, his return to the science fiction genre and the creation of mankind over at Filmophilia.  

I've pulled some highlights from their discussion which include a definitive answer on whether or not H.R. Giger was involved in Prometheus and whether or not the "Alien" makes an appearance.  There are some juicy bits about the Space Jockey as well.

Right about now, all of the studios are rolling out previews for their big 2012 films.  Recently, we've seen the release of the Men in Black III teaser, a new Battleship trailer and poster and, if you venture out to see Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, you can find The Dark Knight Rises prologue in theaters.
