Outpost Black Sun

Now available on DVD, Outpost: Black Sun, the sequel to 2008's war-themed horror flick Outpost starring Dexter and Punisher: War Zone's Ray Stevenson.  The follow-up sees the return of writer-director Steve Barker and Shock had a chance to speak to him about the film.

Here's the synopsis to set you up before we delve into our discussion which you'll find inside: The year is 1945, the closing stages of WW2, and a German scientist by the name of Klausener is working on a frightening new technology that has the power to create an immortal Nazi army. Flash forward to present day, and a NATO task force is hurriedly deployed to Eastern Europe, where a sinister enemy appears to be mercilessly killing everything in its path. But this is no ordinary foe. Only Helena, a gutsy investigator on the trail of the notorious war-criminal Klausener, accepts the reality of that they are facing a battalion of Nazi Storm-Troopers, a veritable zombie army on the march. With the help of Wallace, a man who's been chasing Nazi secrets for years, the two of them team up with a Special Forces Unit to venture deep behind enemy lines. Their mission to fight their way back to the source of this evil army and prevent the seemingly inevitable rise of the 4th Reich.

Xlrator has announced the first title to be released under its Screamfest banner, Outpost: Black Sun, is going to get a DVD release on November 6th.  Meanwhile, another Xlrator debut, The Thompsons, will street on December 31st.

XLrator Media, LLC announced the launch of "Screamfest" and "Macabre" multi-platform releasing labels to bring the best in horror and genre films to North American audiences.

The labels will showcase thrilling new horror visions from American and international filmmakers.  

The first films set for release under the Screamfest banner will be zombie actioner Outpost: Black Sun - the sequel to Outpost - and the Norwegian thriller Thale, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and recently screened at Screamfest Horror Film Festival.

Based on actual accounts and events, the video conspiracy document Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes (opening in limited release today) and the vampire tale The Thompsons will be the first releases under the Macabre banner.
