Now that Darren Lynn Bousman's redo of Mother's Day has hit the States, it's time to revisit the original cult classic.

Troma's Mother's Day is going to hit Blu-ray for the first time courtesy of Anchor Bay Entertainment on September 4th.  Originally released by Troma Entertainment in 1980, directed by Charles Kaufman and written by Kaufman and Warren Leight, the original Mother’s Day follows three young women abducted by homicidal momma’s boys Ike and Addley, while camping.  Ike and Addley are goaded by their “Mother” into violent and graphic acts of torture against the three women. While doing everything to stay alive, the three women muster the courage escape, and serve their maniacal abductors some old-fashioned justice.

Having brought us a sizable portion of the Saw franchise and Repo! The Genetic Opera, Darren Lynn Bousman directed a remake of the 1980 Troma film, Mother's Day.  After a brief delay between the project's completion, the redo - which finds Brett Ratner as one of the producers - is hitting a limited theatrical release this Friday followed by a DVD/Blu-ray release on May 8th courtesy of Anchor Bay Films.

This version of the film stars the ensemble cast of Jaime King, Patrick Flueger, Rebecca De Mornay, Warren Kole, Deborah Ann Woll, Matt O'Leary, Briana Evigan, Frank Grillo, Lisa Marcos, Lyriq Bent, Tony Nappo, Kandyse McClure, Jessie Rusu, Shawn Ashmore, Vicki Rice and Alexa Vega.

Bousman took the time to talk all things Mother's Day and the future with us.

Look at that...  Darren Lynn Bousman's Mother's Day remake is finally making its way to the U.S. on May 4th from Anchor Bay Films.  Yes, it is the redo of the Troma film we've been reporting on for quite a while and it is defintely one of the better remakes we've seen come our way.

Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Repo the Genetic Opera!, Saw II, III and IV) with screen story and screenplay by Scott Milam based on the original Mother’s Day written by Charles Kaufman and Warren Leight, Mother’s Day is a graphic remake of the Troma horror classic.

The Mother’s Day Blu-ray and DVD feature an audio commentary with director Darren Lynn Bousman and actor Shawn Ashmore.  A trailer awaits you after the jump.
