Hatchet III is coming and the trailer has made its debut today.  The threequel is set to open in New York City's Cinema Village and in Los Angeles at Laemmle Music Hall on June 14th. Opening week will feature special appearances by cast and crew, followed by Q&A's at each location. Additional cities will be announced at a later date.

Dark Sky Films has released the official teaser poster for Hatchet III in anticipation of this Saturday's (April 13th) Monsterpalooza panel, where they will be presenting a special panel "THE FX OF THE HATCHET SERIES."

The cast of the threequel will be appearing on stage at 1:00pm. Panelists will include Adam Green, BJ McDonnell, Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, Derek Mears, Rileah Vanderbilt and also Robert Pendergraft. Fans will get a glimpse of never before seen exclusive footage from the film and immediately following the panel, the cast will be on hand to sign this free limited edition teaser poster.

The third entry in the popular franchise was created by ArieScope Pictures' Adam Green. The film marks the directorial debut of BJ McDonnell who previously has handled A and B camera operations on such features as Rob Zombie's Halloween remake, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Adam Green's first two Hatchet films.

One friend of the horror community is gracing the big screen this Friday in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, but you won't be seeing his face.  But then again, you rarely ever do in film as he has made a name for himself playing various creatures and on-screen villains in films like Predators and 2009's Friday the 13th remake.  Yes, we're talking about Derek Mears, the amiable, funny, rock wall of an actor (and comedian) who is getting more recognition these days for his non-"under total make-up" roles (The Aggression Scale).  

In Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, however, he plays "Edward" the troll - a role which required him to shoulder a monstrous creature suit.  That's right, no CGI here.  Edward is all practical.  And to talk about his latest turn, we recently interviewed Mears about the film and the upcoming Hatchet III.

Tonight, FEARnet is running a block of Adam Green films (Hatchet, Chillerama, Frozen and Spiral) and somewhere within this programming the very first clip from Hatchet III made its debut.

The movie is written and executive produced by series creator Adam Green, who also directed the first two films. You'll see a lot of familiar faces in this clip, including Zach Galligan.  Look for Hatchet III next year.  Hopefully, a better version of this preview will hit soon!

Shock Till You Drop met up with the men behind Hatchet III at Comic-Con 2012.

We got the blow-by-blow from Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) and first-time director B.J. McDonnell.

McDonnell has been Green’s long time camera operator and was recently given the directorial reins of the ultra-violent Hatchet franchise.  

The fellas dish on the tumultuous shoot, the decision to bring more action to the third film, and the initial backlash of changing directors for Hatchet III.

The Facebook page for Dark Sky Films has posted a banner in anticipation of the company's presence at Comic-Con and said banner shows off some new artwork for Here Comes the Devil and Frankenstein's Army.  Hatchet III and Stitches are also included (but we've shared those teaser posters before).

Any Hatchet fans out there heading to Comic-Con?  Well, this Saturday, July 14th, Dark Sky Films and ArieScope Pictures will be distributing limited edition teaser posters for their upcoming horror sequel Hatchet III exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con.

On-hand at SDCC to sign the posters will be writer/producer Adam Green, director BJ McDonnell, and cast members Kane Hodder, Zach Galligan, Caroline Williams, and Rileah Vanderbilt.

Hatchet 3 has scored a new cast member in Zach Galligan according to a story at The Hollywood Reporter.

Galligan, best known for playing Billy Peltzer in Gremlins and Gremlins 2: The New Batch and for his leading role in Waxwork and Waxwork II: Lost in Time, will play Sherrif Fowler in the Lousiana-based shoot, joining Danielle Harris, Kane Hodder, Caroline Williams, Sean Whalen, Derek Mears, Diane Goldner and Jason Trost.

BJ McDonnell is directing the latest installment in the Hatchet franchise; Adam Green penned the script and is producing.

No shocker here.  Kane Hodder and Danielle Harris are set to reprise their roles in the forthcoming Hatchet 3, says Dark Sky Films and Ariescope Pictures.  The next entry will be written and produced by Adam Green and directed by BJ McDonnell.
