Rumblings of a Friday the 13th Blu-ray collection have been occurring for the last few weeks and, today, we have confirmation that a set is indeed on the way that includes Friday the 13th all the way through the 2009 remake, and it even includes Freddy vs. Jason.
The 10-disc collection ($129.95 SRP) includes the twelve films on nine Blu-ray discs, as well as a killer DVD bonus disc full of special features on the making of the famous franchise. The must-own set will be presented in a collectible tin case with 11 hours of previously released special features and a 40-page soft cover book. The book is excerpted from Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday The 13th, a fan-favorite volume that's viewed as the ultimate memoir of the series, and highlights some of the 200 interviews, 600 photos, storyboards, concept art and more. Also included is a brand new, official Camp Crystal Lake embroidered Counselor Patch.
This year, a huge opportunity is being missed: The next Friday the 13th falls in September. How neat would it have been to get a new Friday the 13th film in 2013? Well, that's not going to happen, however, some interesting news about the latest Jason Voorhees outing has been revealed.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Warner Bros. has relinquished its hold on the franchise and the rights are heading back to Paramount.
Paramount now has five years to enjoy those rights, meaning, the studio can move forward on a new film if it chooses to without it being mired in rights nonsense.
He's a few days late - I think, as we just celebrated Friday the 13th - but actor Derek Mears unveiled two never-before-scenes from Friday the 13th (2009) in which he played Jason Voorhees. These are certainly very cool and worth checking out for any fan of the franchise/reboot.
Oh NECA, how you do tease us. While putting out some of the best quality horror merchandise these days they sure do know how to make fans impatient. When the new year started NECA had a tweet saying that in 2012 we should expect more Jason sometime, and now we finally get a look at him.
Sparkplug Press announces the February 13 release of first-ever eBook editions of Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th, the exhaustive and definitive tome on the making of the most successful horror franchise in cinema history.
Upon its original release as a collectible hardcover edition in October 2005, Crystal Lake Memories was instantly hailed as one of the most lavish, comprehensive and meticulously researched books ever created about a film series. The culmination of more than three years of tireless research, author Peter M. Bracke exhaustively conducted over 200 interviews with the cast and crew responsible for each of the 11 now-classic films in original Friday the 13th franchise, from filmmaker Sean S. Cunningham’s seminal 1980 shocker through the 2003 blockbuster match-up Freddy vs. Jason. Alongside a narrative as full of shocks and surprises as the films themselves, Crystal Lake Memories also featured nearly six-hundred rare and never-before-seen images that paint a graphically compelling picture of one of horror’s best loved titles
