Eddie the Sleepwalking Cannibal

Doppelganger Releasing brings Eddie the Sleepwalking Cannibal to VOD on April 5th and we have both the trailer and poster art for you.

Thure Lindhardt (Keep the Lights On) stars in this quirky horror-comedy as Lars, a former darling of the art scene now slipping away into the land of has-beens and struggling with lack of inspiration.  When Lars’s art dealer Ronny arranges a teaching job in a small town as a “therapeutic measure” to stir up his creative juices, things don't quite turn out as planned.  At first, life in the peaceful small town seems rosy, as he settles in and impresses beautiful fellow colleague Leslie (Georgina Reilly) by taking in the brawny, mute Eddie (Dylan Smith) after the latter’s caregiver passes away. But Lars soon discovers that the façade of serenity hides something unimaginable: Eddie suffers from a rare form of sleepwalking that transforms him from a docile, cereal-obsessed art student into a ravenous sleepwalkingcannibal. Initially horrified by Eddie’s dark secret, Lars becomes enthralled by the not-so-gentle giant. Exceptional art comes at a very high price...and how far is Lars willing to go for his next masterpiece?

Music Box Films has picked up the horror-comedy 100 Bloody Acres for U.S. distribution.  The title will land under Music Box Films’ new imprint, Doppelgänger Releasing.  This division will focus on genre titles and their rollout across all distribution platforms including theatrical, DVD, and digital outlets.

The feature debut of Australian filmmaking brothers, Colin and Cameron Cairnes, 100 Bloody Acres tells the twisted tale of an organic fertilizer business that experiences increased sales when its owners stumble across a “secret ingredient” - one that’s processed through a meat grinder - that   really   helps their fertilizer to fertilize.

Along with 100 Bloody Acres, Doppelgänger Releasing ’s initial 2013 slate will include Eddie the Sleepwalking Cannibal.

Earlier this year, Eddie the Sleepwalking Cannibal took a bow at the Tribeca Film Festival.  Now, Boris Rodriguez's horror-comedy has found U.S. distribution in Music Box Films, says The Hollywood Reporter.  No release date has been set yet.

The film concerns Lars Olafssen, a man unable to paint without inspiration.  He accepts a teaching gig at a small-time art school in Eastern Ontario. Somehow he inherits the guardianship of the offbeat town's neighborhood weirdo, Eddie. As their unlikely friendship evolves, Lars uncovers a dark, violent secret about Eddie's nocturnal impulses, and finds himself torn between his duty to his friend and his duty to his art.
