Showtime has revealed the official season 8 trailer for Dexter!  Feast your eyes on what's to come beginning Sunday, June 30th.  This is the final season for the hit series.

The story begins six months after LaGuerta’s murder – and Dexter is still managing life as a dad, brother, and serial killer. As Deb struggles to deal with the consequences of her actions, a mysterious woman comes to work with Miami Metro, offering first-hand information on Dexter’s past.

Showtime has today released a new poster and trailer for the eighth and final season of "Dexter". Check it both out after the break. The season premiere airs Sunday, June 30.

"Dexter" stars Michael C. Hall in his Golden Globe Award-winning role as Dexter Morgan, a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department. Season eight, which premieres on Sunday, June 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT,begins six months after LaGuerta’s murder – and Dexter is still managing life as a dad, brother, and serial killer. As Deb (series star Jennifer Carpenter) struggles to deal with the consequences of her actions, a mysterious woman comes to work with Miami Metro, offering first-hand information on Dexter’s past. As we all know, Showtime is saying goodbye to Dexter with season eight.  What we don't know is: What the hell is the final season about?  After the jump, you'll find Showtime's description which was culled from a "programming overview" press release.

A few updates from camp Dexter.  According to TV Line, Julian Sands (Warlock himself) has been cast as a character known as Miles Foster, "a wealthy industrial businessman."  Is he a bad guy or red herring or what?  Start speculating...

Dexter season eight kicks off on June 30th on Showtime.

Even though we informed you earlier this month with a definitive stance that Dexter season 8 will indeed be the last we see of Dexter Morgan, Showtime issued a press release confirming this.  Read on.

In a special announcement this afternoon made directly to DEXTER’s 13 million fans on the show’s Facebook page, SHOWTIME confirmed that the upcoming eighth season of the groundbreaking series will be its final one. The announcement coincided with the release of an exclusive tease from the premiere of the series’ eighth and final season, which debuts on Sunday June 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME. The series premiered on the network on October 1, 2006 and has grown its loyal audience every season since its debut. DEXTER was the recipient of the prestigious Peabody Award, as well as 25 Emmy® and 10 Golden Globe® Award nominations, and was twice named one of AFI’s top ten television series. 

Entertainment Weekly reports actress Yvonne Strahovski will return for Dexter season eight.  She'll appear in a multi-episode arc.  The new seasons begins on Showtime June 30th.

There have always been rumblings that the upcoming season of Dexter, its eighth, would be its last.  Those rumblings are now a reality.

CBS head Les Moonves spilled the beans yesterday in an investors call, talking about the "last season" of Dexter beginning this June.

Britt Robertson is the latest name to be added to Under the Dome's ensemble cast.  She joins previously announced Alex Koch, Natalie Martinez and Colin Ford.

According to Deadline, Robertson is playing Angie the waitress who lives in Chester's Mill when a giant invisible dome drops over her home town.  The actress appeared in Scream 4 (pictured) and starred in The Secret Circle.

These cast updates for the Stephen King adaptation (airing June 24th on CBS) are great, but I want to know who will play "Barbie" and "Big Jim" Rennie.

The eighth - and possibly final - season of Dexter will welcome British actress Charlotte Rampling, reports EW.  According to the site, she will play "a neuro-psychiatrist who specializes in working with young psychopaths and profiling criminals in unorthodox ways. We hear the role has a significant impact on next season’s story."

CBS revealed this weekend that Under the Dome, the series based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, will debut on June 24th 10/9c.

Niels Arden Oplev, the director of the original The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, will helm the first episode.  Brian K. Vaughan (Lost) adapted the tome for the screen.

The story tells of a small town in Maine which is cut off from the rest of the world by an invisible dome. With air, food and patience dwindling, societal norms within this town begins to break down.

Dexter season 8 chatter has progressed beyond "will it be the last season?" and moved into "who are some of the new characters we can expect to see?"  Casting breakdowns are starting to leak and TV Line landed one which describes two newcomers.  Head inside for the "spoilers."

Oh, Dexter.  You corrected yourself early on in season seven, but descended back into your wild "anything goes" attitude, ending on an explosive note that felt like an organic direction.  I'm just not sure if I liked the execution of the dramatic turns you made.  And now you might have one more season to make things right.  Maybe.

It appears not even showrunner Scott Buck knows if Dexter will conclude next season or not.  Vulture sat down with the man to get a progress report on season eight and he said, next season "might be the last. That hasn’t been announced yet. We’ve been picked up for one more season, but whether that is the last one or not has not yet been determined."

A new episode of the webisode series will premiere online every week, leading up to Dexter's seventh season premiere on September 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME.

Hall, written by Dexter producer Scott Reynolds and illustrated by celebrated comic book artist David Mack ("Daredevil," "Kabuki"), the web series gives Dexter fans an early look at the life of America's favorite serial killer with storylines that predate the series.

Showtime has revealed yet another preview for the forthcoming seventh season of Dexter.  Entitled "The Last Piece" the promo strings together all of the pieces that could have lead Deborah to believe Dexter was a killer.  Of course, it culiminates into the season six finale.  Check it out inside and look for new episodes to begin on September 30th.

Ecko|Code and Showtime Networks today announced that Dexter The Game 2, the sequel to 2010’s Dexter The Game, will arrive on iOS, Android and PC this fall to coincide with Dexter Season seven, which premieres on Showtime on September 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Developed internally at Ecko|Code in conjunction with Showtime, Dexter The Game 2 puts players in the shoes of America’s favorite vigilante in an open-world Miami. For Dexter fans, this is the day for you.  Also, there's no shortage of zombie love.  There are a number of panels this day devoted solely for the undead, whether it is Image Comics The Walking Dead comic panel or a few academic discussions about shambling corpses.

The big surprise is SDCC's space for indie horror as Jen and Sylvia Soska take to the stage to talk bout American Mary and Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red) is previewing his next film Coldwater.  Check out the schedule within!

Based on Dexter season 6's finale, big changes and revelations are in store for season 7.  TV Guide spoke to series executive producer Sara Colleton about what's to come, furthermore, what this season is about.

"It is about things he's never experienced before, which are regret, responsibility, shame, betrayal, all of those things. Also, it's the flip side of wanting to be known, and then once you are known, there's a loss of freedom. It comes with heavy responsibility, so he's dealing with a lot of emotions that he's never had before, and never been allowed to feel before or allowed himself to feel before," Colleton told TV Guide.  She was also questioned about the series' inevitable finale.

Genre television is going to get interesting this fall, not to mention crowded.  

Besides the return of a few familiar faces, like Dexter and The Walking Dead, we'll be seeing shows like 666 Park Avenue premiere on ABC.

Over the weekend, a few promo posters hit, including a teaser for Dexter season 7 and three promos for the aforementioned 666 Park Avenue.  The former sees Yvonne Strahovski, Calista Flockhart, Matt Gerald, Ray Stevenson, Jason Gedrick and Katia Winter joining Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter.  

The latter stars Terry O'Quinn, Vanessa Williams, Dave Annable, Rachael Taylor, Mercedes Masohn, Robert Buckley, Helena Mattsson and Erik Palladino.  Head inside for the images.

You have to keep an eye on the Facebook page for Dexter, I tell ya.  They've got some goodies over there, including the breaking news that Yvonne Strahovski is joining the seventh season of Dexter.

Says the FB page, the co-star of Chuck will appear in a multi-episode story arc in the upcoming seventh season, will play the role of Hannah McKay, a strong, independent woman with a past that she's struggled to put behind her.

Matt Gerald, Ray Stevenson, Jason Gedrick and Katia Winter are other newcomers to  the upcoming season.

TV Guide landed a first look at Dexter season 7 and due to the spoilerific nature of the photo, for those who have not season 6 (and if you haven't, um, catch up already!), you'll have to head inside for a look. In broad strokes, the last season ended with Deborah Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter) catching Dexter in an interesting situation.  The show's producers promise that when Showtime resumes the series this September...we'll definitely see what occurs between the two.

When casting news breaks for Dexter, you have to wonder if the actor getting involved is going to have a long run...or if they're committing to a bit part which ends up on Dexters table wrapped in plastic.  Entertainment Weekly reports actor Matt Gerald is joining the cast of season seven.  The site says he'll play a "blue-collar violent criminal."  But don't expect this actor to appear in simply one episode, apparently he has a multi-episode arc.

A brief update on Dexter season 7's progress.  TV Line says Katia Winter (Arena) is joinin the cast as a Russian stripper.  This goes nicely hand-in-hand with last week's new item in which we revealed Jason Gedrick was cast as a gentleman's club owner.

Dexter season 7 is adding a new face to its cast.  According to Deadline, Jason Gedrick (Iron Eagle, Luck) will play a gentleman's club owner who is linked to a murder case.

TV Line reports some big news regarding the seventh season of Showtime's Dexter.

According to the site, Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone) has joined the cast and he'll play "a high-ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring who arrives in Miami determined to learn who killed one of his associates."

What is this, Sons of Anarchy?  While this could possibly be just a small slice of what's to come next season, I'm glad to hear the first news is not "Miami has another serial killer and Dexter must stop him."

The news is small, however, we figured you Dexter enthusiasts will enjoy this update.  Showtime has announced a premiere date for Dexter season 7...
