Chase Novak's novel, "Breed," is in development for the big screen.
Summit Entertainment has acquired the rights to the story which follows a couple who undergo an experimental fertility treatment that turns them into bloodthirsty savages, leading them on a desperate quest to find a cure.
Burr Steers will write and direct the film which will mark a genre change for him. He previously helmed 17 Again and Charlie St. Cloud and has dabbled in television fare like Weeds and The New Normal.
Mulholland Books published "Breed" in September and has already ordered up a sequel novel from Novak.
