A Haunted House

Open Road Films announced today that it has acquired the distribution rights to A Haunted House 2, a sequel to this year's A Haunted House.

Marlon Wayans will return to co-write and star.

The first film, released in January 2013, opened to $19 million at the U.S. box-office and has taken in over $40 million to date.

Shooting on the sequel begins this summer.

Last week, ShockTillYouDrop.com caught up with the cast (and co-writer) of A Haunted House - Marlon Wayans (who stars and writes), Essence Atkins, David Koechner and Affion Crockett.

I went in expecting a rather light interview with Wayans and we wound up discussing the discipline of making comedies and more (Atkins doesn't mind taking a shot at Scary Movie 5 at one point).  Head inside for the full interview!

Nearly a year to the day after The Devil Inside was released, a movie is coming along to (partially) spoof it.  That movie is A Haunted House and a new poster for the film has come along to riff on Devil's "blind nun" one-sheet.  Get a better look at the art on the left inside.

The trailer for the next Marlon Wayans comedic vehicle A Haunted House, a spoof on the found footage sub-genre which has dominated horror, has hit the web today.  Open Road Films is handling distribution and plans to release the film January 11, 2013.

Open Road Films, in partnership with Endgame Entertainment, has acquired all U.S. distribution rights to A Haunted House, co-written by and starring Marlon Wayans, from IM Global. The film was financed and produced by IM Global's genre label Octane. The announcement was made today by Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Open Road Films, James D. Stern, CEO of Endgame Entertainment and Stuart Ford, CEO of IM Global.

In the Wayans family tradition of successful movies like Scary Movie 1 & 2, Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, and, most recently, Dance Flick, Marlon Wayans co-wrote the script for A Haunted House, along with Rick Alvarez, who has produced several Wayans family movies. Marlon Wayans' co-writing and acting credits include: Dance Flick, White Chicks, Little Man, Scary Movie 1 and 2; his acting credits also include G.I. Joe: Rise of The Cobra, Requiem for a Dream and the recently wrapped The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, directed by Paul Feig.
