Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood Announces Universal Monsters Remix: Resurrection
The addition of all-original monsters inspired by fan-generated character competitions marks the first time that horror fans have contributed to a haunted maze experience for Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood. The winning creatures will exist in the twisted confines of the “Universal Monsters Remix: Resurrection” maze alongside classic Universal Monsters, entombed in a shroud of heavy bass sounds by acclaimed dubstep artist, Figure. Halloween Horror Nights kicks off on Friday, September 20, 2013.

The Mummy Gets a New Writer, On Track for 2014 Release
It was reported some time ago that Total Recall director Len Wiseman would be directing a reboot of The Mummy franchise at Universal and last we’d heard, a script was being written by Prometheus writer Jon Spaihts. Vulture is now reporting that Universal is so eager to get a script ready to shoot this year, that they’ve hired The Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray to pen a completely different script for the project. An insider told them that both scripts will probably end up fused together…

Toy Fair 2013 Early Look: Michonne Statue & Mezco Horror Collectibles
Toy Fair 2013 doesn’t officially start until Sunday, February 10th, but we have a sneak peek image gallery of what’s to come. Mezco Toyz decided to get a jumpstart on the competition by giving press a preview of their new line of toys featuring the Mars Attacks! martians, the classic Universal monsters and their “creepy cuddlers” which draws upon a few familiar faces in horror for inspiration.   Also, McFarlane Toys revealed a pretty sweet Michonne statue from The Walking Dead comics.  Head inside for access to our photo gallery.

Len Wiseman’s The Mummy is a Modern-Day Reboot, Director Talks Project
“Horror” and “epic” are two words being bandied about by director Len Wiseman when it comes to The Mummy reboot he was attached to in September. Movieweb caught up with the helmer of the Total Recall remake and got him chatting about Universal’s new take on the classic movie monster.  Beyond those two aforementioned words, Wiseman describes the new film as “more of a modern day version of what would happen if we came across a mummy in our world today. It is pretty fascinating.” He sounds uncertain if it’s the film he’ll do next – because he dropped the line “if The Mummy is to be the next movie for me” – but he went on to explain what’s getting him excited about the project.
