We’re not getting a Paranormal Activity film in October, but Blumhouse Productions and Paramount are making sure the franchise’s presence is felt this season. In the wake of the news that Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark were scripting the sequel comes word of a director.
When Paranormal Activity opened, it kicked of an October tradition. Every year since 2009 we’ve seen a new installment in the series. Except for this year. When October rolls around next week, fans will not have Paranormal Activity 5 to look forward to, however, it is slated to open October 24, 2014.
Today, the film inches closer to becoming a reality.
The Hollywood Reporter says it has landed a pair of writers. Newcomers to the series, in fact.
Ready for a one-two Paranormal Activity punch? 2014 is not just bringing one but two Parnormal Activity films leaving 2013 completely absent of a new entry in the series.
Shall we begin?
The year kicks off on January 3, 2014 with Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones – this is the Latino spin-off entry that has been rumored for a while now.
Rumors began to circulate yesterday that Paramount was considering moving Paranormal Activity 5 from its scheduled October 25th release date to sometime in January, to replicate the success that The Devil Inside found in that same window. While we had previously heard different from producer Jason Blum, it appears that the initial reports were true. Hit the jump for all the details.
There’s a story at The Wrap running right now saying that Paranormal Activity 5, which has been awfully silent the last few months, may get a release date push from October 25th to January 2014, a month already populated by Lionsgate’s Jessabelle and I, Frankenstein.
According to the site’s source, the decision is still being mulled over but it might take a January 6, 2014 slot which proved to be successful for The Devil Inside. ShockTillYouDrop.com sat down with producer Jason Blum over the weekend during an Insidious Chapter 2 press event, however, who told us that the next installment will hold to the series’ October release date tradition.
Blumhouse Productions and Paramount are moving forward with Paranormal Activity 5, reports Deadline. This honestly should come as no surprise to anyone. Paranormal Activity 4 opened at number one over the weekend.
