That little Zombieland cutie Abigail Breslin is growing up quickly. “How quickly?” you ask? Breslin turns seventeen next month! She’s also quite the horror fan.
Not only is she playing a more mature role than we’ve ever seen her in before in this Friday’s serial-killer/chase film The Call (opposite Halle Berry, with director Brad Anderson), but she’s got two more genre projects lined up – Haunter (read more about that here) and Final Girl. Breslin told me a little about each while promoting the call last week in LA.
“Haunter is gonna be at SXSW. It’s directed by Vincenzo Natale, and it’s pretty creepy. So I’m excited for that,” Breslin – an avid fan of ShockTillYouDrop.com – said.
Photographer Tyler Shields has opted to show you his feature directorial effort, Final Girl, in its entirety in 60-seconds. It’s his version of a “trailer” and you can watch it inside.
Abigail Breslin and Wes Bentley star. The former plays Loner Veronica – a teen at a new school. She’s shy and vulnerable – the perfect target for a group of teenage boys who lure girls into the woods to hunt and kill them for sport. It’s only after they get her alone that she turns the tables on them, escaping and revealing she’s armed and knows how to defend herself. Little do they know, Veronica is an assassin-in-training, and she’s chosen killing these boys as her final test. When the dust clears, Veronica will find out if she can be the final girl these boys ever have a chance to hurt.

ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned Wes Bentley, Logan Huffman, Michael Trevino, Connor Paolo and Francesca Eastwood are joining Abigail Breslin and Alexander Ludwig for the upcoming Tyler Shields-directed film Final Girl. ”Final Girl” is a popular term in the genre, representing the final girl standing at the end of a slasher film.
Shooting is expected to begin next month; the film is being pushed at the American Film Market this year.
In addition to scoring this casting news, we have landed updated artwork and an official plot synopsis.
Some cast updates are more exciting than others, that’s why I’ll sometimes single one out for its own news item. I’m throwing a bunch into one story as today yielded quite a bit of casting news ranging from the upcoming film Final Girl to the television series Bates Motel. Head inside for more.
Little Miss Sunshine herself, Abigail Breslin, has faced zombies (Zombieland), now she’s going to take on a pack of “feral” boys in Final Girl, says Deadline.
Prospect Park and Studio City Pictures are shepherding this project which concerns a young woman who has been targeted by a pack of teenage boys as part of sick “initiation.”
What they don’t know is that she’s about to turn the tables on them. The screenplay is by Steve Scarlata, Alejandro Seri and Johnny Silver.
