Last night at Paleyfest here in Los Angeles, Ryan Murphy and his team from American Horror Story took to the stage to reflect on American Horror Story: Coven and to look ahead at American Horror Story: Freak Show, the FX series’ fourth story arc.
Murphy revealed to the audience that Michael Chiklis (The Shield, Fantastic Four) will be joining the freak show; he’ll star as Evan Peters’ father.
Last week, American Horror Story scribe Doug Petrie confimed what we’ve been hearing for some time: That American Horror Story’s fourth season would embrace a carnival setting. This lead to some fun speculation that the season may be set around a “freak show,” a la Todd Browning’s 1932 horror classic, Freaks. Today, series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that the plan is to do just that, posting the following on Twitter:
There had been a running rumor, toward the end of American Horror Story: Coven, that the FX show’s fourth season would take place at a carnival. I’m not entirely sure where that originated, but I didn’t put much credence in it because it simply felt like fan wank (we see a lot of that surrounding our favorite television shows). At the beginning of January, Ryan Murphy revealed the next story arc would be set in the 1950s. Jessica Lange, meanwhile, was working on her German accent.
And Hollywood’s fascination with witches continues… Dimension Films has picked up a pitch entitled The Witches Ballroom. Shawn Levy will produce. This is one of those “it’s too early to say anything more about the project because we just made the deal” situations, so we can’t give you a logline.
American Horror Story concluded its most recent story arc, “Coven,” this week. What did our “Covering Coven” team think of the wrap-up? Were they pleased with the results of the “next Supreme”? Listen in as they discuss!
This week sees FX’s American Horror Story: Coven come to an end and the question of “Who will be the next supreme?” will be answered. We’ve received 13 photos previewing the season finale – check them out here!
The time comes for the girls to face the test of the Seven Wonders. The night before, Myrtle serves them one last meal together as equals. It’s time to find the new Supreme, a witch who Cordelia hopes “can lead the way out of an era of strife and chaos, towards repair and rejuvenation.” With the Witch Hunters gone, perhaps they’ll even be able to live in the open.
American Horror Story: Coven kicked things up a notch yet again and here to discuss last night’s episode is the Covering Coven team.
In the episode entitled “Go to Hell:” Cordelia’s latest vision puts the Coven’s future in question. With the end of Fiona’s reign approaching, the girls manifest powerful new gifts. Queenie’s search for Marie Laveau leads her to Hell and back.
