First Cast Member Revealed for The Loch

Loch Ness monster shenanigans are coming via a film called The Loch, which we first brought to your attention a year ago.

At the time, it was revealed The Woman in Black's James Watkins was teaming with Simon Duric to pen a thriller about the Loch Ness monster for Altitude Entertainment.

Duric will make his directorial feature debut and, today, the first cast member was revealed.

Another Gremlins Remake Story to Chew On

Is Warner Bros. getting serious about a Gremlins remake?  It sure looks like it.  Bloody-Disgusting reports that Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and David Katzenberg have been strapped with producing duties, however, no writer or director are attached at this time.

The two have a first-look contract with the studio and are also at work on a Beetlejuice sequel.  Their two-year deal was signed back in fall of 2011.

First Look at NBC's Dracula With Jonathan Rhys Meyers

While we wait and see what NBC does to Hannibal (the show has not been picked up for a second season yet), the network has revealed the first images from another genre-themed series: Dracula.

It's exactly what I thought it woud look like.

A period drama starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers (6 Souls), the show, per Entertainment Weekly, finds Dracula posing "as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society but secretly hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier."

Thomas Kretschmann will plan Van Helsing.  Dracula debuts this fall taking the 10pm-11pm Friday night time slot.  More pics await inside.

ShockTillYouDrop.com spotted the new poster for director Franck Khalfoun's remake of Maniac tonight and you can check out a photo of the poster after the jump!

Starring Elijah Wood and Nora Arnezeder, the thriller is set for a limited theatrical bow and VOD debut on June 21st. Written and produced by Alex Aja and Gregory Levasseur, the film finds Wood playing Frank, a man - haunted by seedy memories of his promiscuous mother - who works in a mannequin shop by day and stalks 'n kills women by night. Things take a turn in his life when he meets a beautiful photographer (Arnezeder).

Nicolas Cage to Topline Hotel 33

Foresight Unlimited, Envision Entertainment and Emmett/Furla Films are joining forces to produce the horror film Hotel 33, starring actor Nicolas Cage. 

Hotel 33, will be produced by Randall Emmett and George Furla, and executive produced by Envision Entertainment’s Remington Chase, Stepan Martirosyan and Vitaly Grigoriants, and Foresight’s Mark Damon.  Malek Akkad is also an executive producer on the film.

Newcomer Kellie Madison wrote the script for the film which will start production in September 2013.

Wanted Director to Unleash His Flesh-Eating Squirrels

Red Sea Media is in the process of assembling a strong slate for the upcoming Marché du Film, including Squirrels, a new horror-thriller that the company has just acquired international sales rights for from Bazelevs, Timur (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) Bekmambetov’s production company.  

The film was written by Daniel Antoniazzi and Ben Shiffrin, based on an idea by Bekmambetov.

The production is currently setting a director, with an A-list cast expected to sign shortly.
