Herbert West: 90210

Source:Fangoria
March 4, 2009

Someone's trying to build a bit of buzz for the television series Herbert West: Re-Animator in the wake of the remake news we broke over the weekend. Fangoria anonymously received a trio of images from the proposed show. It doesn't have a home, but it is in development at Transition Films where William Butler is shepherding it along with executive producer Meredith Red. There's talks of circling directors (like Stuart Gordon), but nothing is locked down. For now, enjoy the 90210-esque cast shot below and the two others you'll find here along with an outline of the show.

LOL! Great title for this article.

Someone mentioned the similarity between this cast photo and the one from "Twilight." Coincidence? I think not.

This could be comedy gold. Bring it! I'd much rather see this than the proposed 3D remake.

Let me guess. The one in the blue dress is West

I don't usually like to judge before I see something but this does look like a horridly bad idea.

But it's not going to ruin the original or destroy my childhood.

maybe they could cast tori spelling if she didn't look like a retarded bug. This sucks sooooooooooooooo much!

I gotta poop now.

First news of a 3-D remake,and now a TV series ?!

Looks like it's going to be a cross between (the new)90210,"Supernatural",and "Dexter",for
I wonder if this series is connected to that 3-D remake....

This is a complete and utter insult to the works of both Lovecraft and Stuart Gordon, unlikely to please fans of either man, or anyone else for that matter. Herbert West isn't meant for the CW crowd.

Apparently the producers are both very familiar with, and big fans of H.P. Lovecraft, because as we all know, if there was one consistency through his work it was an ensemble cast of attractive teenage characters.

Glad to see they didn't dishonor the man's legacy by casting some lone, introverted, university-professor-type.

I saw that on the other page it says "Herbert West, a dark and mysterious young man, arrives on campus, instantly shining as a brilliant young student and the object of many of his female schoolmates’ desires."I don't remember West being object of female desires. The cast looks like there starting high school not college.West does your mom know your playing with dead bodies.

See, that's the problem with Hollywood casting for "teenagers" in movies. Viewers have gotten so used to seeing actors in their mid to late 20s cast as high school or college kids, that when they actually do cast people close to the actual age (between 16 and 22), viewers immediately say, "They aren't old enough!"

Here's a good example, for you...look at the kids who are cast as high school freshmen on Nickelodeon's "iCarly" show and compare that to how the cast of "Dawson's Creek" looked in their first and second seasons (when they were also freshmen and sophmores). Big difference...the Dawson's crowd makes the iCarly group look like they are 12 year olds or something. But the iCarly cast is actually playing their age, while the Dawson's cast ranged in ages 18 to 22 when they were supposed to be playing kids around 15 and 16. But I digress...

This show looks like a bad idea, anyway...

Not a fan of the idea but i'll watch it if it's on. It will never have the sheer over-the-topness that the movies had.

What would make it work is if they slipped in some more Lovecraft ideas. Then i'd be happy.
