Producers Developing Re-Animator Remake

Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com

Please click here for an update!

The good doctor Herbert West has defied death before and now he's looking to make a comeback. Not in a sequel, however, but in a remake. (C'mon, don't act surprised.)

ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned producer Ray Haboush is developing a remake of Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator. Haboush operates Automatic Media and is the owner of Halcyon International Pictures. He'll be shepherding the project with Brian Yuzna, producer of the original '85 and director of Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator.

There have been talks in the past of a House of Re-Animator and a television series. None of which have come to fruition.

Haboush and Yuzna are looking to do the remake in 3-D. And since it's so early in the game, there's no word as to whether Combs would return to reprise his role, or if they'll find someone new to slip into Herbert West's lab coat.

Oh, oh. Here we go with the whining. Let me begin.

1) Noooooooooooooooo!
2) I wanna kill (insert name) who directed, produced, this piece of crap.
3) Hollywood has run out of ideas.
4) How do they dare destroy a classic?
5) Boo hoo, my vagina hurts.
6) If they get anyone other than Combs this is going to suck.
6b) If Combs isn't in it I'm not going to watch this crap.

Variations on this include the preceding done in horrible grammar with horrible spelling and/or it being written in all caps.

Um, did I miss anything?

yes, you forgot:

7) What a **** load of ****

but I like the idea, you know, I'm starting to see the bright side, is not like every time we say **** THE REMAKES blablabla, there not gonna stop, so instead of ***** and moan, I will try to have fun with this new vision of my favorite movies, hell yeah, bring a new Re-Animator, at least I be the start of a new bunch of H.P. Lovecraft movies with a budget!

Good GOD NO!!! This is like my worst fear realized.

I am officially not watching another remake. Friday the 13th will be the last one i watch. Re-Animator is my favorite movie. Now that they are remaking Nightmare on Elm Street they have to remake this? hell why even hire new writers in Hollywood when all the movies coming out WERE original back in the 80's! Is there no more orginality in Hollywood anymore? Rediculous... Just Rediculous

Posted by: ttop33 on February 28, 2009 at 14:33:55

Waste of time. Let's just have a sequel to reanimator. It's not like reanimator brings in big bucks like friday the 13th. It isn't going to make millions like that. It is a cult film so I don't see why they feel the need to remake it if they aren't going to make that big of a profit. Unless they are truly completely out of ideas, or just to lazy to come up with new ideas.

Nunya, that is comic gold. And clearly you were right seeing a couple of posts down from you hehe.

People seem to forget the Hammer period of horror where Dracula was remade, along with several other of the classic Universal monster movies.

Hell, not all of the recent remakes are great, but it's excited to see the 2nd generation of these great characters we all grew up with.

Much like Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee AND Gary Oldman ALL were great as Dracula, I think it's cool that we're seeing a new generation of Jason, Michael Myers, Freddy and whomever else.

They're all going to be made weather you like them or not, so hell, might as well give them a chance and have fun with it.

All else fails, in 20 years, we can ***** about the "new", new NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake.

I love remakes...don't get me wrong, the originals are ALWAYS better, but at least a remake of a good (great) movie is gonna be better than 90% of the stupid PG-13 "horror" movies that come out nowadays. And hey, we will always have the originals, its not like when they do a remake they take the original away! I say, bring 'em on! I will go watch a Re-Animator remake in a heartbeat! I love that film and anything that has to do with those characters and that story, I am all about.

P.S. Cat is dead..details later

If they're going to remake this in 3-D,just do it as a new sequel instead, since those "re-boot"/"re-imagining" remakes pretty much play as sequels instead of true remakes, anyway.

And it's too hard imagining Jeffrey Combs not returning as Herbert West, but that's another subject altogether..,

At least a remake will "re-animate" interest in the original film and in Jeff Combs, Barbara Crampton, and Bruce Abbott.

Even if it sucks, I'll still probably watch it. I'd love to see Jeff Combs in a cameo as Dr. Gruber - it would be like the original (and best!) passing the torch to "Herbert 2.0."

I'm trying to think positively about all this.

imdb still says house of re animator is coming and william h macy is attached but then again imdb still says phantasm V is coming i want house of re animator damn it

Posted by: ST on February 28, 2009 at 17:04:17

It's almost like they're trying to force the idea of remakes on everyone by having a mass amount of remake news all at the same time until we're too weak to fight back.

Nunya, you're awesome.

Even funnier once you read the third, fourth and fifth postings.

I say bring it on.As long as its not PG-13 i'm ok with it.There is nothing wrong with remaking all the movies from the 80's.This brings in a new audience to our beloved films of the past.
Whenever a remake comes out lots of people are curious about the originals because they haven't seen them.So that generates new dollars to the original filmmakers.I saw people buying FRIDAY the 13th dvds at best buy that never saw those films.

Posted by: Ryan on February 28, 2009 at 19:04:29

Don't remake it please hollywood stop being afraid to release new stuff.

Bring back Combs and have Stephen Colbert play his brother.

Posted by: ico on March 1, 2009 at 00:19:38

My one worry is that they will do the same thing they did with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake which is that they took it too seriously. Both TCM and Re-animator were fun over the top movies and i think they might ruin that. Think about it, if they remade Return of the Living Dead as a serious drama, would that be a good idea?

Posted by: Jakarah on March 1, 2009 at 11:07:42

Hahaha, my worst fear...Gremlins remake, or even scarier, The Sound of Music remake.

Ugh, the possibilities for the start of the apocalypse. What are we to do, what are we to do.

As the old man says in Friday the 13th, "Your Doomed, Your All Doomed"

Posted by: Dax on March 1, 2009 at 13:54:08

I read awhile back Yuzna was making 3 sequels to this franchise, what happened to those? I'd rather see those come out than another remake.

Posted by: ico on March 1, 2009 at 14:58:31

Dax

He couldnt raise up a budget for them. I was excited for them too.

Posted by: NPH on March 1, 2009 at 20:21:48

Is there a website called remakes.com? cuz there should now that every classic is being remade.

Posted by: ike on March 1, 2009 at 22:27:57

Dear god, get over it. Some remakes are good and some are bad. As for pg-13 horror they should burn anyone involved at the stake. If they must remake this movie it really should go even further over the top then the 85 film did, it was epic. And lets face it we are safe as long as they don't remake the two scariest movies ever made........Strip tease and Show girls.....

Posted by: bluerosekiller on March 1, 2009 at 22:35:07

Oh for Pete's sake, STOP with all the bellyaching!!!

I mean, seriously. Enough is enough.

Remakes have been with us since the silent era & will continue being made in one form or another long after we're all gone. So, what's the problem?

Sure, the end results can be complete disasters. For every success like Carpenter's THE THING, there are probably a half dozen groaners like the recent redux of his THE FOG. But, the point is, that the remake didn't make anyone forget about the original. Rather, the 2005 film has been pretty much forgotten & dismissed by the vast majority of people & when someone mentions THE FOG, I'd wager that 9 out of 10 immediately think of the original.

So, why waste all this energy moaning & groaning & gnashing one's teeth over each announcement of a genre classic's remake? If the prospect REALLY holds no interest whatsoever for you, then pay no attention to anything about it. Just skip all news about it online, don't read any articles concerning it in magazines, ignore the eventual trailers & it'll be in & out of theaters before you know it.

It's really rather simple.
