I know its just concept art but why doesnt he have hair on his neck and chest in the last two pics? I thought the wolfman had hair all over.

LOL @ Jag
I just give my honest opinion on everything whether people like it or not (most the time not), and it's hard to deny the awesomeness of the pics above.
Posted by: Ryan on February 26, 2009 at 18:09:30
To JMC yes he does have hair all over don't forget these pictures of him transforming is only half complete. lol the face has only transformed now the body will be affected use your imagination lol.

I agree with Ryan, the last two look spot on the original. If they kept it like that, I'd be MORE than happy. Can't wait for this film. Chaney Jr's Wolfman is my favorite horror character. In Benicio I trust.

This movies gonna suck.
Just step back and look at it. Not just whose infront of the camera but behind it, it's gonna suck. It's from the same director as Jurassic Park 3. There are only 3 good things about this movie, Anthony Hopkins, Danny Elfman and Rick Baker. I like Baker, one of the best make-up effects guys in history, but i don't like the make-up, i do like the idea of them going "old school" but then whats the point of remaking it if it's going to look exactly the same as before, they should update the make-up, they have all of these techniques now that they arent even using and on the topic of Benicio Del Toro, he's the worst person to cast in the part. Who they should have cast is someone who is the last person you'd think would show their animal side like Leo Dicaprio or Jude Law. I have no expectations for this movie what so ever and what sucks even more is that it's coming out on my birthday.

The script is by Andrew Kevin Walker (SE7EN, SLEEPY HOLLOW) so it has something else very good going for it. I cannot wait to see this film!

Hey ico I do agree im not thrilled that joe johnston is directing it. However I do love the concept designs and im very excited they are keeping it old school. Even though i agree with everything you say I mean im not saying it will suck because ive been waiting for this to come out since I first heard they were remaking it back in 2006. If you really look at rick baker concept designs yeah its the same but rick baker did tweak it. Don't get me wrong you would have to be a fool if you didn't know that was lon chaney's version of the wolfman. In my opinion there is no other wolfman this is the way he should look even though he shouldn't because we have chaney's version but he should. This movie people are either going to love or just hate.

I like that they are using the "old school" look too but i can't help but feel that they should have updated it also. Jack Pierces make-up is classic and Rick Baker is one of the greatest make-up guys in cinema history (and has been saying for years he wanted to do this movie) but Pierces design was used because that was the best they could do at the time and with all the technologies we have today i think that they should use it. Back then putting too much make-up on the face would severely inhibit the actors performance but now-a-days, with the materials we have today, they can do alot with the design, basically what i'm saying is that i don't want to just see a really hairy face. I would like to see a little bit of a snout, not like the American Werewolf in London but just a slight protrusion around the mouth and nose. In the remake of the Mummy, it didnt look exactly like Boris Karloff and do you really think the Gillman will really look exactly like it did in the original Creature from the Black Lagoon when the remake eventually comes out? What i'm saying is that we've already seen this look, now use that design as the jumping off point and make something new. I'm not a remake hater and i was excited about this when i first heard about it but every bit of news that would come out about it made me more and more disappointed.
Sometimes you need to let go of nastalgia and do something new, if they remade a lesser known werewolf movie, for example, the Werewolf of London (1935), do you really think they would use the same exact design as before?

I LOVE it.
Rick is my reason for seeing this, provided his transformations make it to the screen. Very old school & sweet homage to Pierce.
Baker once again confirms why he's my favorite make up artist.

hey ico once again great points you are making. I guess what im trying to say is I was worried that they were going to go the opposite route and turn the wolfman into the werewolves from the howling because that would be all out ridiculous. I mean this a wolfman movie lol lawrence talbot should be half man and half wolf pretty much bipedal. to be totally honest even though I said it before im thrilled that they used this because to most people this is going to be new to them unlike you and me who have seen these movies. Im just happy that the wolfman is being brought back to life. And ico I wouldn't get to worried because im finding some information about these concept designs and most people are saying that these transformations pictures are not even half way done. and if you watch the trailer the small glimpse that you see of the wolfman it doesn't even look like these, I mean it does but not really.

I guess they're not really updating Wolfman's look much... That makes me sad for Frankenstein.
Posted by: Ryan on February 28, 2009 at 12:58:15
And as for the remake of the creature from the black lagoon To be honest ico I would update but only very little. for instance I would change the body a little and just tweak the face but that's about it. I wish I could give you a good example of the creature. I saved a picture I found the internet a few years back which is a statue of the creature of the black lagoon and it is a updated version very cool looking. It would satisfy the very old school people like myself and for people like you that would want something completely new. that's how cool it is its oldschool but a new version of the creature.

Ryan
If i was doing a creature from the black lagoon remake, the biggest thing i would change would be the face and only tweak the look of the body. I would have the face look similiar to the way it looked in Monster Squad and for the body i would morph it to make it look less humanoid, it would still be bipedal but make it have more details of a fish and frog. If you havent noticed, i've been thinking about this for a while.
It's weird that we were just talking about the Wolfman remake on the last article about the Nightmare on Elm Street remake and then this one pops up like the next day.
