EXCL: Where Does Underworld Turn Now?

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans propels fans of the franchise
way back before the events of the first two entries to establish the friction between the vampire race and the Lycans. It not only provides a modicum of closure to some unanswered questions but it also fulfills the vision of Len Wiseman, co-creator and director of the previous films.
ShockTillYouDrop.com caught up to Wiseman at the red carpet premiere of the new film (on which he serves as producer) tonight to ask...where does
Underworld go now? One could say the narrative can push forward following the events after
Underworld: Evolution. Or, Wiseman and company could play around in the years between
Lycans and the first picture.
"We'll see what happens with this one," Wiseman says.
"They're now a bit more open. There was always a hope that there were three films we could tell - so we've completed that trilogy we've talked about. There are many places we can go. If people are willing to go back, they're willing to go forward."
Well, that sounds like we might see more of Selene and Michael.
"I'm kind of flirting with ideas of what would take place in the future. I'm just glad people are accepting that we can jump around in the time line and people are interested. Hopefully they'll be willing to accept different stories because the characters are there and they're immortal. It would be fun to go forward again."
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans opens in theaters tomorrow.

If they do another one they should have alot of the plot points come from the prequel. If they dont it would just seem like a random jump to a couple hundred years ago.

I hope they go forward id like to see more of what Selene and Michael have evolved into. Id also like to see more of the Amelia character. The actress who plays her is gorgeous.

Amelia was murdered on the train by the Lycans in the first Underworld, remember? They needed the blood of an elder. She was coming to awaken Marcus...

True, Nilade. But if they do another prequel-esque film about the period between Lycans and the first Underworld, Amelia could (and hopefully the same actress would) make an appearance.

i loved XENA so probably i'll like this one.
I'd prefer to see more sequel than prequel.

i think either a story that follows rise of the lycans or a sequel to evolution would be great. can't get enough of the underworld series.im so tired of the slasher serial killer flicks, and ghost stories they repeatedly put out over, and over. keep bring these good monster flicks and some great creature features please i beg. and how about a reboot to resident evil more like the first video game, and a prequel to king kong or another remake of island of dr. moreau it could be really great now to make a remake with the cg and real effects how they are now.any thoughts guy's and girls????

STOP MAKING THESE GOD AWFUL FILMS. I made the mistake of seeing the first on in theaters. I was tempted to leave but I had played good money to see that piece of ****. After the film was over and every one was leaving I could hear them saying, "did we really just watch that bad film" The only one's that seemed to like it were a group of 14 yr old boys. Never saw the sequels never will. They just need to stop wasting the film on these pieces of ****.

Methos: Shut the **** up! No one wants to hear your useless opinion. If you didn't like it then say that and nothing else. You are in the minority about these movies buddy. Most people really likes these movies. They are good action sci fi movies!

Completely agree with Cable.
If you don't like it Methos, fine. But don't tell the rest of what we can like, what we can 'waste' OUR money on, or try to categorise us according to your very small world-view.
I also think you're outright BSing about hearing what 'everyone' was saying. Suuure you did. I think you just said that as if it somehow justified your own opinion, when it just shows that you don't think your own opinion is strong enough on its own...
And if you haven't seen the other two, your opinion is not even worth the words you wasted on it, frankly.
The Underworld series is not high art, I'll grant you, but I enjoyed them for what they are - good escapist fun - not what they aren't.
You might want to try a similar philosophy - it will improve the quality of your life, I guarantee it. You are filled with way too much hatred of things which don't ultimately matter - try pointing that ire towards things that do.

Horrible, horrible movies. Just look at RT's tomato meter for these films. Consensus = they stink. I don't understand what is appealing. Because it is mindless gun play and not enough script/dialogue? Because it relies heavily on old cliches? I don't see it. Plus, they never release GOOD studio movies in the dead winter month of January.

No, I am not Methos, but I agree with him. Don't bother responding to me either, I won't check up on this post. Just added my two cents.

Cable, why didnt you ask for your money back? You dont gotta lie to kick it. Sounds like your blabbing for arguments sake. You probably havent even watched the movies. Liar.

Sorry Cable, I meant Methos. My bad. Methos just sounds so full o crap.

Jockorama, do you make your own decisions or do you let other people make them for you. Only women do that. One day my ex bought a pair of shoes and they were god awful. I asked her why and her response was that they looked good on her friend. Dont follow the flock.

I just saw the movie last night in a sneek preview and it is what it is. I agree this is not a blockbuster movie but it is watchable. do not see the new one without seeing the first two or you will be lost. Underworld is a good series for what it is. If you are looking for a action sci-fi movie that lets you escape from reality than this is it.

You people mean Selene and the Incredible Hulk right? Because that's what the "hybrid" was. Dude turned into a giant green guy in the first movie.

UNDERWORLD IN SPACE!! That or far future CYBERPUNK UNDERWORLD!! It's true that they are immortal and eventually vampires and lycans will command spaceships and colonize planets!!

Caterpillar - I am so on board for that film. That sounds like an awesome idea. lol

What a douche. You know Jockarama is checking back to see who said what about him. You either like it or don't. who cares. They keep letting the scary movie guys make those god awful parodies that no one finds funny anymore. Hollywood doesn't give a crap what people want and they make whatever they want to make. Haven't seen this one yet but i enjoyed the first 2. if they make another one i'd rather see it follow evolution

I'd never seen this Rhona Mitra person -- who plays the female lead -- before, but she looks like a cross between Kate Beckinsale -- and Ian Astbury (lead singer for The Cult), at least like he looked in the 1980s.
Nice to see the character of Raze -- who was in the first film -- is reprised, and by the same actor (Kevin Grevioux)! We even get his "origin story."
Rise of the Lycans has too much skaky-cam in its fight scenes for my tastes (I grew up on monster and kung fu movies), but the storyline is pretty decent.
I always thought Lucian was a very cool character, and was glad to see his presence expanded in the latest film.

I enjoyed the fist movie. The second one was ok, but not great. These movies are not built to win awards, they are created to let us escape into another world. Which the first one did well with. Alot of the people I was in theaters with loved the first movie, it was the second one I noticed people didn't enjoy as much. I would love to see what happened after the second movie, because you are left hanging. But, it will really depend on how people take to the newest one.

Went and seen the new "Underworld" and it rocked.. Loved it..I was great seeing how it was all started.Loved all the main characters.. Now i am waiting on the "Unerworld 4". We need a ending (or not) on what happens with Michael & Selene....Please DO NOT leave us hanging. That would be so wrong.haha....I need to know...

Hey Everyone
I just saw Underworld 3 and loved it.
If they were to make another one, they should make it on the other elder of Amelia we only see her briefly in the 1st movie just before she is killed on the train, and then in combat gear in the 2nd also very briefly, she is so unknown it will be nice to see a movie about her, maybe even her history.
It would make a great story.
