Confirmed! Zombie to Write/Direct Halloween 2

Source:Variety, ShockTillYouDrop.com
December 16, 2008

You read it here first, fiends. Rob Zombie is re-teaming with Dimension Films to direct a follow-up to 2007's Halloween entitled H2.

Variety, who confirmed our news break (yet, sadly, offers no credit), says the new film will pick up where Zombie's reboot ended "following the aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted."

Sources tell us that Zombie's vision for the sequel - which will not resemble Rick Rosenthal's original second installment - is "crazy" and a "totally unique approach" for a next chapter.

"I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," Zombie tells Variety. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called 'Halloween': If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."

Tyler Mane will reprise his role as Michael Myers; it's unknown if Scout Taylor-Compton or Malcolm McDowell will encore as Laurie and Dr. Loomis, respectively.

Production begins in March with its release targeted for October (a similar turnaround on Zombie's first Halloween). Malek Akkad of Trancas International Films will produce alongside Spectacle Entertainment's Andy Gould.

so on top of it being zombie and his usual style that will ruin the halloween name further, he is already planting the seeds that his lack of time to get this movie written, made, edited and released will be the reason the movie sucks.

i have zero interest in this movie and quite frankly the most interesting thing that comes to mind is how he figures his wife into the movie, since her character wont be around and he has this obligation to have her in his flicks.

i expect more white trash and filthy language.

Shot in the head at the end, comes back again in the sequel. Stupid stupid stupid.

man oh man he's moving pretty fast on this I wonder how it's gonna be if he directs in a hurry. He use to take his sweet ass time now he has about 10 months to complete this....only time will tell.

You guys have to remember the time frame he shot Halloween 2007. Principal photography began in the early months, like March/April...and it came out in August.

I was probably one of the few that really liked Zombie's Halloween, so I am looking forward to this sequel.

I love the original Halloween 2 ... damn Zombie... he'll ruin this flick just like the first.

just you wait, in a few months, you will all be like, oh man, that looks so sweet, i love how people bash a movie before it comes out, shows hot pathetic society has gotten these days.

I loved the original Halloween!!!I really loved the remake it kicked ass,but of course anything that rob zombie touches is golden. So I think the remake of the second one will kick ass. So props to rob for choosing to remake the next chapter!!

I loved the first it was different that's what love and not stick to the same **** but Im glade that Zombie wont be going back to the original H2 story and make something new and fresh cuz if he did then everyone will be looking for similarities like they did on the first one and everyone will be talking **** and be pissed off and just **** on it cuz they didn't stay true to the original but im excited for this one and hope it will make an October release.

Be surprised if scout taylor compton isn't back.

I have to admit that I enjoyed Zombie's re-imagining of the first installment. Yes, we had that white trash moment at the start, but despite any flaws it was a good movie that had a gritty feel to it.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he molds the story in this new outing and wish him all the best.

Why are some of you ppl calling it a remake of halloween 2, as you can see in the story Zombie said it will not resemble the original halloween 2 and it will be a unique approach.

I thought the first one was a bloody good film, would you rather go back to the days of Busta Rhymes Karate kicking Michael Myers?!

Lame and liar!

groovy loved Zombie's take on the original and look forward to seeing this one on opening night

I must say, the first one was good and all, but the thing that attracted me to it, was that it was supposed to be a one-and-done film. So basically, Rob Zombie is creating his own Michale Myers franchise now? He'll make another 1-2 movies after this, then here we go again, ten more ****ing films of the same story. I'm sorry, but I'll pass.

Not excited, but I will see it in theaters, no doubt. The first was too brutal, even for me; but I am curious to see how there is a Michael Myers, seeing as how we are supposed to believe he took a point blank .38 to the face!

The Devil's Due comics, btw, are outstanding...if RZ needs source inspiration...

its all gonna be trash yet again. and i also wonder how he'd work his wifes dead character into the film since thats the only way she can get any type of movie part. This will suck big time and i for one will not be seeing it. the 2007 remake was white trash grade a movie anyway this will forever be the same. the original 2 will forever be my fav and the classics

Posted by: MistAh BlistAh on December 16, 2008 at 10:35:16

i'll give it a chance, but my expectations are pretty low...

The best thing about Zombie is the dialogue he writes...having a mute title character isn't playing to his strengths.

Posted by: Lewmis on December 16, 2008 at 11:02:05

I thought Zombie's take on Halloween was an interesting way to introduce sympathy for a kid who grew up in an abusive home. Not every killer is from a upscale neighborhood in Columbine.

Posted by: Doctor Splatten on December 16, 2008 at 11:46:20

"H2"?! Are you f***ing kidding me?! It was bad enough that Micheal Myers' evil had to be explained in every (white trash) detail for an audience with no imagination, but now the title has to be text-abbreviated for these same idiots?!

Would you calm down? It's not like we have any say...I greatly enjoyed the RE-IMAGINED 2007 movie as compared to the 70's version...they're both respectful in their own ways...and how Rob is going to pull out a sequel is beyond me...but if he's up to the challenge...then we has a movie-going group should be respectful...these re-imagings might be getting a little bothersome but THEY ARE GOING TO KEEP COMING! BECAUSE IT'S JUST THE WAY HOLLYWOOD IS! STOP WHINING! STOP YOUR *****ING BECAUSE IT'S NOT DOING YOU A DAMN THING EXCEPT MAKING YOU LOOK LIKE A WHINING PIECE OF ****!

i'm up for a new Zombie Halloween. what could make this a great movie is that it's basically going to be a NEW (meaning not a remake) HALLOWEEN movie. it's not following Halloween2.
