2009 Preview: Final Destination: Death Trip 3D

Source:Warner Bros.
December 13, 2008

A title change. First photos. And a synopsis. Warner Bros. and New Line have supplied us with all you need to get you prepared for what is now being called Final Destination: Death Trip 3D (set visit). Directed by David Ellis and written by Eric Bress, this installment is hitting theaters on August 21st.

Synopsis: On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O'Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave...escaping seconds before Nick's frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they've cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one--in increasingly gruesome ways--Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination. The film marks the latest in the highly popular "Final Destination" series, and its first 3D installment, giving horror fans an especially visceral thrill ride.

Shantel VanSanten, Bobby Campo, Haley Webb, Nick Zano and Krista Allen star. Click on the preview image below to be directed to our hi-res photo gallery.

No matter how many FD they make, I will never, ever get tired of them. Love the premise, love the execution.

Does Tony Todd show up in this one too?

I'm curious to see the deaths in 3D. Should be entertaining as hell, They're going hard R on this right?

Sounds pretty cool to me, if only because of the death scenes I'm on to see this new ride!

This happened at the Charlotte Motor Speedway about 8 yrs ago. A tire from one of the Indy cars flew into the stands after a wreck killing several people. A couple of months later a walkway collapsed killing several people also.
All 3 of the other films were great. I think about the 1st movie every time I get on a plane. Creepy.

what?

Final Destination is my personal favorite franchise in Horror, so I'll be there opening day with 3D Glasses in tow.

Looking forward to this one.

Loved the first two, but found the third one to be a little predictable and spet far too long on the set ups for each death even though I knew what was coming.

Fingers crossed that they get back to the pace of the original with this one. And the 3D should be a nice gimmick (if done right).

Yeah the FD series are good. 1st one rocked, 2nd one was equally good, but the 3rd .... hmmm I personally felt there could have been a greater roller coaster accident.

The only info I know about Nascar Racing is from Talledega Nights... so the accident I would hope is spectacular.

sweet the first two movies are great the third one sucked what's good about the new one is that the guy who directed the second film is directing the fourth so it should be good can't wait for it :)

Are they just going to keep revolving directors or something? The director of the 3rd one directed the 1st and the director of this directed the 2nd.

Just wanted to add something to what ZOMBIE4PETA posted on December 13 (or more an update). There was also a few days ago, a six year old kid killed a short time ago in a similiar manner (when a tire hit his head while he was sitting with his parents) at a monster-truck rally (not quite the car races as in this movie) but a very similiar venue.

I actually didn't go see the 3rd installment, because I get motion sickness on roller coaster put I did watch on an unmentionable site last week. I actually wasn't totally thrilled with FD2 because the deaths after the car crash opening looked way too hokey and not very realistic (and the reactions of the other characters was lame). But I also didn't really think the FD3 roller coaster accident looked very realistic either. I would hope that the accident at the car race in FD4 will look as realistic as the car crash in FD2, but the writers and directors (as well as the young actors) of this movie will go back to the deaths and reactions to the deaths after the car race crash as seen in FD1 and FD3 despite not being directed by the same guys who did those two movies.

3D should make this all more interesting.

I think it would be interesting to have FD5, if it is made, be one where they have the accident that triggers everything of death trying to come after people be at a rock concert (although not a hard rock concert, but a rock concert that would appeal to a wide range of different age groups, say a group similiar to the Rolling Stones -- I wonder even if they could get at least part of the Stones to participate?) Because I could so see some type of accident occur at a rock concert ala what happened a few years back at that Rhode Island nightclub fire. And a rock concert would be also interesting for 3D special effects.

I really hope that this movie is as good as the 1st three. although i didn;t really like fd2 because the deaths were something that wouldn;t really happen. The plot of this movie interests me. i think this one might be even better than the first 3

I'm looking forward to this, as I liked the other Final Destination films, I even have a book idea that I still need to write out involving a group of actors who escape a burning auditorium. Anyway, the premise to me won't get old, and in a note to the creepiness factor who else had seen the article about the Italian woman who missed the flight from Rio to Paris that crashed? Her car suddenly veered into the path of an oncoming truck, killing her but sparing her husband. Is this pretty much Final Destination esque? :)

Yeah, some of the deaths may not be "realistic", but the whole premise is that these are FREAK accidents.

When I first heard that they were doing another movie, I gringed... until I found out about the 3D part. Can't wait!

I Loved all of them!! It keeps you thinking what's going to happen next. It's amazing how they come up with the ideas but, never the less I love them all and would love more to come, even though this could be THE END?
