The Final Fate of Mrs. Voorhees in Friday the 13th

For a while there, it wasn't looking good for Nana Visitor who plays Mrs. Voorhees in the upcoming Friday the 13th. Reports from an October test screening said she was cut along with young actor Caleb Guss (lil' Jason Voorhees).

Producer Brad Fuller wants to make one thing clear: "Mama Voorhees is in the movie. Little Jason is in the movie. There was a time they were not in the movie, we were having problems with a scene. We figured it out, and now they're in." That's good news, no? Also promising: "We enhanced two deaths [after the test screening]. When we watched them with an audience, we were not getting the reaction we wanted so we made them better."

Fuller and co-producer Andrew Form are also quick to clarify that the recently released trailer (watch it here) does not give every kill away as some believe. And they are happy to hear that most of the online community is digging the preview.

They tell me that a Friday the 13th 6-foot standee is going to make its way into theater lobbies to promote the film. It features a cardboard Jason Voorhees choking one of his victims. Except, a hole will be located where their head is so you can place your noggin' in there and make it look like you're being killed! Have your cameras ready for your next jaunt to the multiplex. The standee will hit some theaters this week and go wider next week.

i don't mind mrs. voorhees being in the movie, but little Jason is just a stupid idea, remember it's not like a surprise ending like the first one, this is apparently flash backs showing how Jason survived in the woods all these years, how silly.

Festy, it's silly finding out how Jason has survived in the woods?. Most people, fans especially, would find that very interesting. Obviously.

I know I've been adamant about a FRIDAY THE 13TH remake for a long time. But after reading everthing in the last few weeks about the remake, the DVD's, and now this, leads me to think the redux is just a part of what looks to be an all-out celebration of everything FRIDAY. That's pretty damn cool to me.

recutting the film, well is a start.

the more they explain about the series Barry, the more silly it becomes,

there is NO logical reason for Jason surviviing on his own in the wilderness, esspecially since its a camp ground where people are regularly.

Posted by: Jeremy on December 13, 2008 at 10:09:09

Festy, no logical reason? It's a safe bet Mama Voorhees dies and young Jason sees it. Also, assuming they keep to the backstory, Jason was a kid regularly taunted and teased by the other kids, so it's not that far a stretch that he'd prefer to try surviving on his own than seeking the aid of those who've made him miserable and, oh yeah, offed his mom.

Besides, this is a Friday the 13th movie. If the series depended on logical actions, each movie would have been 10 minutes long.

Glad to hear Nana Visitor's back in the movie. Assuming that's her voiceover on the trailers, she could do really well in the role. If you want to see her as a psycho, see if you can find the episode of Night Court she was on. She played a movie-obsessed woman who stalked Dan Fielding.

Oh, one more thing: the standup thing sounds fun. Hope they have one at one of my local theaters.

And, you know, I'll bet some enterprising website -- maybe one devoted to horror movies -- could have some fun with readers sending in their pictures of this. Just sayin'.

Do people want to see what they look like being killed? H*l% yeah they do! If it's by Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, LeatherFace, any of the greats! I'm going to see a movie, ANY movie in the next week or so & my camera is coming with me!
