The Friday the 13th Part 2 Talk Begins!
Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
December 11, 2008
"I pray that there's a sequel to Friday the 13th," reveals producer Brad Fuller.I'm sitting with him and co-producer Andrew Form at the Four Seasons talking about the future of Platinum Dunes, they've just told me they're committed to a new A Nightmare on Elm Street film next. But I'm curious to hear if they're itching to do another Friday the 13th. Because they're excited about what they've done with Jason Voorhees. I can hear it in their voice every time I speak to them.
On set the pair expressed they were not using the conclusion of their re-imagining of the Friday franchise to lay the groundwork for sequels. But the fans know better. Jason always finds a way to come back.
And should Friday the 13th do well at the box office, well, "We want to go back to Crystal Lake. We love that character," says Andrew Form. "We're talking about a screenplay and stuff. I don't know. I don't know what we'll do. Elm Street is our focus right now."

Reboot Freddy. Make him scary again. And then a few decades from now, let's get a good Freddy vs. Jason movie. One that's more horror than cheap action. I'm definitely looking forward to the new Friday. If it's as good as the trailer, I'll be there for the sequel.

Sounds like these guys acually have a passion for what they are doing. maybe that's why it doesn't feel wrong to have them re-inventing my childhood favorites. O'm looking forward to F13th 2, and we're still a couple of months away from the first one.

i'm definitely in for a FRIDAY part 2. i just hope if they do it that it lives up to the original part 2. that's my favorite FRIDAY film (followed if not tied w/ part 4). i also agree w/ Micah. make Freddy scary again. PLEASE!! he hasn't been scary or creepy since the original.

I'll decide after I see it how excited I am about a sequel. I'll be there opening night but I have this sick feeling in my gut that they're gonna f_ck it up a la TCM style.

why do so many people hate the texas chainsaw massacre remake? i thought it was good, it took it to different places then the original. i thought the remake of TCM was way better then the halloween remake and i really like halloween. and the acting i thought was good. jason i think they need to remake cuz to be honest i thought the original movies were entertaining i guess but i think alot of people looked at them as an easy way to see girls naked and thats it. and i think they could make jason alot better then how they did back then. freddy was good, all they really need to do is find a great actor and then the computer can prolly take care of the voice. England is good tho

come on. don't let us wait another 10 years. think about a new friday chapter right now!!!
is it so difficult to make aF13 movie???
Posted by: Jim on December 12, 2008 at 08:48:58
To Mike, agreed in full. The TCM remake is one of my favorite movies. And I an not some young noob looking back at "old movies" thinking they are sucky. I grew up with these films and I love 'em but I just don't see a problem with retelling these stories with modern, better quality film and a fresh perspective. I just don't understand the haters of the remakes.
Posted by: Brad on December 12, 2008 at 11:41:32
@Jim. Agreed. It completely blows my mind that people can "hate" remakes so much, when in fact remakes, by and large, can be delightful to watch. I'm in my 30s and have GREAT memories of watching the old classic slasher flicks of the 80's, and it doesn't trouble me at all to know they're rebooting these franchises. Why not? Because I don't place a personal investment in the movies themselves. They are fun to watch, simply put; they ain't rocket science, and they won't change your life for better or worse. They are just fun. Why not experience new takes on stories? Seems to me that would just add to the fun, right? People, I swear, can be so judgmental when, in reality, they have no ground to stand on. Remakes give old stories new faces, and new perspectives. Have fun, everyone. Sit back, eat some popcorn, and HAVE FUN.

yes yes yes!
Another Friday 13 and a new Freddy movie. These guys are making my dreams come true.
I'm sure the new Friday will be fantastic.

sweet, keep it coming I love Friday the 13th and I'm glad there thinking of redoing the whole series to make it up to date and so it cant make more sense to us I mean we have the technology. I just hope they don't screw it up by putting the last 4 movies (part 7, part 8, Jason go's to hell, Jason X) into the new series. now I know this new take/remake of Friday the 13th is based on part 1,2, and 3 which I think is genius so we don't have to watch his mom do the killing and wait for the 2nd to see Jason kill again and it will speed things up for this. P.S. please if you do a new series do it in 4 or 6 movies and not 10.

How in the hell would they go about a part two? This remake has 1-3 in it already, I mean if they have a solid story I'm all for it, but how would they? I don't know, I personally indulge in remakes with the aspect of It's another persons take on what they saw when seeing the original and by keeping what they liked and revamping areas that needed to be. I'll see it once, if it sucks, then so be it. I find it funny how people will sit and whine about remakes when you sit and watch an original and they sit there going "Oh that was stupid! they should of did this...." Duh, remake.

ha, I remember when they said they were never going to do a Friday sequel and now look what they're doing.
Posted by: S.T.C. 1 on February 15, 2009 at 05:18:58
After seeing Friday the 13th, Their better be a part 2!! That was a great reboot! most fall short, and fall off, but this one was great! Oh and let's do freddy again, but yes please make him scarier! I wouldn't even mind an NC - 17 Freddy or a friday! but you can leve that to the unrated cuts! I'm a horror fanatic.
Posted by: Nunya on February 15, 2009 at 08:35:17
They never said they weren't going to do a sequel. Hell, the article is from December of last year. Moron.

Form and Fuller are a disease...
Taking classic films and turning out horrid remakes for a quick buck....
If they ever come out with something original, then I'll shut up..

Preach on McG!!
Posted by: Winchester on February 15, 2009 at 13:48:03
Then shut the f**k up, McG. Fuller and Former released an original movie last month called "The Unborn" and have "Horsemen" arriving next month. The merit of these films is to be decided upon the viewer, but the producers are making strides to do original stuff now.

Jason got raped this past weekend, now it's Freddy's turn at the butchery factory know as Platinum Dunes, it's a sad day for horror movies!
Posted by: Fabricio on February 15, 2009 at 19:41:43
"OMG it's a remake! the world it's gonna end!
my life it's totally ruined cuz a remake just came out... i can avoid it, not watch it at all. but anyways i'll judge"...
COME ON U PEOPLE... im sick of those who hate remakes, ok, go on, move on with your lives, u know why? cuz remakes will stay here... and no matter what they will keep making them... we all r gonna die, and remakes will still be here...
so what's the big deal about it, dont like remakes? ok, avoid them... a bunch of remakes wont harm u. there are tons of bad and really bad movies that should be worrying about...
why do even post here? why do u even waste ur time on something u hate? that's stupid... sorry no offense... =)
BTW: another Friday the 13th would be cool, IF they make it better... the recent remake was kinda stupid... i liked it, cuz come on it's JASON! but still, kinda too light
Posted by: NPH on February 15, 2009 at 20:17:27
They're probably put together the same plots for part 4 to 6 in the sequel.
Posted by: Rtown on February 16, 2009 at 01:19:50
I agree with Fabricio. Why comment on these boards, its not like the guys at Platinum Dunes sit and read what you say every waking hour of their lives.
And if you all dont like this "remake" which it was'nt, the only two people from the original Friday was Momma V and the young Jason. I liked it cuz it was good fun and something different then the old zombie jason that we got after part 4. As a fan of the films and being someone who owns every single one no matter how awful they got. This is a welcomed edition to the series.

i really wanted to love the new Friday, i really did. but come on! it was WEAK! i'll try to avoid spoilers in case some of you haven't seen it yet and by all means, do see it. i'm just saying it's WEAK. first problem i have with it is: tunnels? WTF?! second: Jason does NOT let anyone live no matter who she might remind him of. those 2 things made me think they got this story a little mixed up with TCM/Leatherface. finally, i know getting the mask in part 3D wasn't earth-shattering or anything but for him to just happen to find a hockey mask in some red-neck's barn was really lame. sorry but it was just WEAK. the throwback to the 80's **** and ass/partying kids theme was ok, although Friday wasn't really too t-n-a till about Final Chapter. it did have some pretty decent kills(can't wait for the inevitable, unrated director's cut dvd!) that's just my opinion and i am far from a noob so don't even try it! here's an example, i saw PART 3D at the theater in the actual 3D format it was meant to be in, not that red and blue crap that they did to the "special edition" dvd.

i wish they where the ones who got to re do halloween and not zombie.

ok, 42 million opening weekend, be looking for Friday the 13th part 2, to come out in 2010 or 2011, i did go see this movie on friday, and i thought it was GREAT for a remake, only above average for a good horror film though, i mean this isint a Prom Night, or One Missed Call, so if you get scared easy, and dont like nudity or gore, then dont go see this movie. otherwise ENJOY
