New Friday the 13th DVD Art Revealed!
Source:Paramount Home Entertainment
December 1, 2008
Artwork is finally in for Paramount Home Video's deluxe editions of Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part 2 and Friday the 13th Part 3...which is now confirmed to be in 3-D. All three titles arrive on February 3rd. Only the first Friday is getting the Blu-Ray treatment at this time.
For full specs on these titles, visit our previous announcements here and here. It should be noted Friday the 13th Part 3's special features are limited to a trailer. But getting it in 3-D is pretty great, we're sure you'll agree.
A week later, on February 10th, Paramount will also release the second season of Friday the 13th: The Series. Artwork can be found via this link.

I wonder if Part 3 will have a 3D box to go along with the case like the Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D has.
FIRST!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that's horrible. That would have to the worst artwork I have seen in a while. And WTF, no special features on Part 3, sad.

I still can't bloody-well believe they're releasing 2 and 3 as the R-rated versions. The first movie has been available uncut in Europe and Australia for 20 bloody years. Anybody who really wants it already has it, myself included.
It's the other bloody movies (no pun intended, hehe) that need to be released uncut.
And no one even dare give me the old "the footage doesn't exist" story. John Carl Buechler, the director of part 7, has repeatedly said in interviews that he has the missing footage, and has begged paramount to release it (here is the proof: http://www.pitofhorror.com/main/buechler.html). They have constantly ignored him. DO NOT HUMOUR PARAMOUNT by buying up these editions. It's like a slap in our faces.

Have to say I think I'll stick with my "From Crystal Lake to Manhattan" box set. Unless the unrated version of Part 1 is dramatically different. But if it's just a few extra seconds than I probably won't bother.

It's such a huge money racket with all these releases.
How long before they'll be released as a BOX SET for a much cheaper price? Hmm...6 months to a year maybe? I think so.

Hard to get excited for these. Seriously, if you already own the box set, why buy just special editions of the first three movies. I might be inclined if they boxed up special editions of all of them, but this is kind of annoying.
And worse yet, the 3D will likely be the red and blue (anaglyph) glasses which as you all know produce a very poor 3D image and make the entire picture rust colored and blurry. It will not be the same 3D look as the theatrical presentation which used the clear polorized glasses (stereoscopic )and was very good 3D. It might have something to do with the television format versus theatrical exhibition. But if you have attempted to watch 3D movies on DVD like COMIN AT YA or SPY KIDS 3D, or even JOURNEY 3D, you will know what to expect.
I appreciate the effort to give us the movie in 3D, but the technology just isn't there to do it well. If I'm wrong on any of this though I'd love to stand corrected.

Amazing. Just simply amazing is all i have to say. The uncut Friday the 13th Part One DVD is my most favorite.

blech. just stick the original theatrical poster, much better than these photoshops. same goes for most DVD art. just paste the poster on the cover, like they used to do for VHS in the 80s. See Tim Burton's BATMAN, STAR WARS, etc.

PART 3 in 3-D?
3...2...1...NERDGASM!!!
Posted by: Ron Ferrell on December 2, 2008 at 09:29:36
I was too young to see F13th 3 in the cinema when it came out,so I'm glad it's being rereleased in 3-D.
Posted by: Mike on December 2, 2008 at 10:29:49
Pure garbage. Why can't they just use the original poster art?
Posted by: Tim Gordon on December 2, 2008 at 10:39:52
Paramount can stick these "deluxe editions" up their a$$es.
I've had the uncut version of Part 1 for over 10 years now. Kinda hard to get excited about this release.
At least MY BLOODY VALENTINE will be getting the special edition dvd it deserves, and it was Lionsgate, not Paramount, that madce it happen.
F you, Paramount.

WTF... this looks as if Jason is some mamby pamby wearing Zubas or other crappy sweat pants and a turtleneck. the only one that should give a feminine vibe is part 1.... that's all.
I will stick to my box set & bootlegged uncut version. thank you

Even though I have an older issue of the first "Friday..." (recently signed by Harry Manfredini, I might add), the Nurse and I are picking all of these up! I was too young to go see the third film in theatres, so no matter what, these DVD's will be a treat fro me!

Next to one another they look exactly alike. Random people might think its the same movie although it's part 1, 2 and 3. Why only red-grey-black covers? Is it too hard to do something remotly diverse? They look like cheap direct to video artwork. I am pissed. Really.

ya i agree...the artwork for each movie should be different enough to tell them apart. I like the artwork for part 1 but then part 2 and 3 look the ****in same. I am very dissapointed in the artwork being used on these and on the ****in documentary "his name was jason". Can't they be more creative and come up with something diffrent than what we've seen for years? SUKS!!!

WOW ...!!! This is great news...But why did it take a damn Re-Make of a Cult film to give the "Friday the 13th" fils the DVD releases they deserved!!!
Paramount is just a bunch of money hungry people!!!
