Update! Rob Zombie Returning for Halloween 2?

Source:Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
December 2, 2008

Update - 11:59pm Pacific: Trancas International tells us they are sending out a press release regarding the sequel in the next day or so. It appears we may be on the money with this. This afternoon, I put in one call to one of Zombie's reps and received a "no comment." In regards to something of this nature, I fully understand that the producers would want to give it a proper break in the trade papers. So, if confirmation does indeed come down in the coming days, just remember where you read it first!

Too good to let slide until we get some hard facts, a morsel of info has come our way regarding a sequel to Rob Zombie's Halloween.

It's been widely reported at this point that Inside helmers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo have parted ways with Dimension Films and Trancas International's proposed Halloween 2, leaving the door open to anyone. An insider phoned in this afternoon exclusively informing ShockTillYouDrop.com that Rob Zombie may reprise his duties as director and carry on the new Myers legacy that he forged with Tyler Mane behind the mask.

Where does that leave Tyrannosaurus Rex? Well, according to our source, the project is on hold for now since Halloween 2 is expected to start shooting in March. But questions remain: If this is true, has Zombie been at work on a story? Is a script complete? Will a script be complete by March? The man is busy hatching his new album, where's his focus?

There's much to consider.

I've put phone calls and e-mails in to all parties potentially involved. Now we just wait for a confirmation or a denial.

I loved the remake!! The only thing I didn't like is how Mike escaped from the asylum. To the guy who said the original Halloween 2 was a great horror movie...Which movie were you watching? Number 2 was boring crap that in no way held up to the original. Even Carpenter was not a fan of it. He wrote the screen play, but did not direct. Jamie Lee's character was reduced to a blathering weekling without any real dialgue. I get the same feelings after watching Halloween 2 as I do from Jaws 2 and Ghostbusters 2....they just show too much of him, absolutly does not have the suspense of number 1, and tries to go for more gore over chills, which ruined it. The only other real good Halloween movie (other than the remake) was number 4. I still feel that none of the Halloween movies ever got as bad as any of the Friday the 13th movies.

OMG!!!. Dont freaking do it. I hated it the new Halloween. Took more time on just the freaking ugly kid, and not even killing people. I HATED IT. I think the only good Rob Zombie film was "The Devils Rejects". Otheres have been very very dumb. If it does get made, the only way ill see it is if it has michael actually killing people throughout the movie. Like to OLD Halloween I, II. Anyways, i only like the first two halloween movies anyways. The rest were kinda dumb.

Rob Zomnie sux. That movie was the biggest piece of ****! John Carpenter is rolling in his grave and he isn't even dead yet!

i cant wait i loved rob zombies remake, he did a great job

and stop the ****ing hate already, the only reason you hated the first remake is because
he remade a classic, i love the original aswell but i also love the remake so ****off!

Posted by: jake on December 3, 2008 at 19:29:55

i think that the first one was an average "Halloween". he did great on the backstory of Michael Myers, but that took up half the film. he must have been like "crap, ive done all of this back story and now i have to cram a remake into the final 45 minutes".

if Zombie puts his head in the right place (and up his a$$ is not the right place), then he can probably pull it off.

i wouldnt be suprised if this turned out to be bogus, since Zombie announced after the first one that he was done.

i don't understand why everyone talks so badly about Rob Zombie's Halloween. it was great.
i prefer the way he escapes from the institution in the theatrical version over the awkward rape scene escape that's in the unrated version but other than that, its really vicious and dark enthralling. what more can you want?

Posted by: thorn on December 5, 2008 at 02:19:34

NO NO NO NO NO i dont want a sequel...not from Rob or anyone else! let it go!

i like remakes and sequels. for those of you who really hate them and theink that "theyre ternishing the originals" well, what about frankenstein? the remakes are in different uneverses. theres the original halloween, that still stands, and always will, and rob zombies halloween, which happened in a paralel universe. it saves continuity if you think that way.

I wish Rob Zombie would making these silly films and go on to other things because they all su#k , .........they are not scary one bit.

i was kind of looking forward to this because they said zombie wasnt doing it, i dont like what he did with michael with the making him human and making it too predictable, so he had a prick step dad, and ***** sister and people making fun of him, obv hes gonna have issues, i think it would have been better if he came from a normal envorionment and was still ****ed up any way, like just a bad seed, some times its better if u cant understand it, i mean zombie put some cool things in the remake but i dont like the shaky camera shyt he was doing, and i dont like how the original movie didnt play out they way it should have, with all the young mike stuff taking up so much of the beggining.

I don't understand the d*cks who don't want these films re-made or continued. I enjoy seeing the new visions and revised stories. Any money at all pouring into the horror movie franchises is going to mean more films. There's really no down side to remakes being made. If you don't like the idea, nobody is forcing you to watch them.

While I like Zombie as a horror director, there were a few things that bothered me in the first film. The biggest mistake was making Michael this huge dude. The great thing about the original is that Michael looked enough like a normal guy that he was mistaken for someone in a Halloween costume on Halloween night. Zombie's Michael was more like Jason. I also agree with the poster who said he didn't like Michael's family being so white trash.

I think it's great that Rob is planning on a sequel but I again say what is the point! If you keep doin' sequels people are gonna think you're re-doing the whole series;not that I don't say " I hate these movies but the original Halloween back in'78 was a movie made by kids, put together with alot of love and pinache and it is best to leave it alone. What people are doin' today is xeroxing. But it doesn't really matter of what I say because if you want to remake the whole series and sell out Carpenter you be my guest because it happens to be John's Best Selling movie in the horror/supense industry to date. Don't destroy it protect and embrace it. It's gonna make you proud one day I promise you.

I thought Rob Zombies Halloween was alot better than the original. It's my opinion but Rob Zombie did do a great job on the film. I would like to see him do a sequel to his remake. I was never a fan of Michael Myers until I seen Rob Zombies Halloween. the old one was just to boring for me, it wasn't scary and i think its overrated. The new one is so much better. and fu!@ all you haters! don't like it, dont watch it. Rob zombies Halloween is successful if you like it or not.

I thought that the new halloween was actually a pretty good movie, i am a huge fan of all the old ones except Halloween 3, but i liked how rob zombie showed his child hood in the intro, but it would have been more intresting and erie if he had a normal family insted of white trash, but i hope they do a good job on Halloween 2, and i cant wait to se it!

Posted by: OriginalHalloweenFan on February 15, 2009 at 21:41:30

I hate Rob Zombie for making this remake of Halloween. Friday the 13th, needed a remake becuase the first was so stupid becuase its so old. Same with exorcist, but Halloween should just be left alone. I bet they were going to make another Halloween becuase these movies never get old, unlike Friday the 13th after the fourth sequel. Like all of your films it sucked and it was frikkin gross. Just leave Halloween alone.

Now i have always been a huge halloween fan! I loved John Carpenters Halloween movies. Now Rob Zombie has come in and just destroyed halloween! Rob Zombie is not a good director at all!! There was rumors going around about two years ago (right before Zombie did a horrible remake of halloween) that carpenter was going to make a remake of halloween. Now that would have been great! Zombie you SUCK!!! The remake you made was horrible! What do you guys think this sequel will turn out to be like? HORRIBLE!!!

Posted by: Man in Black on February 17, 2009 at 13:46:39

I love all of Rob Zombies films from H.O.T.C to Halloween.I'm glad he's coming back to do a sequel.I am also a big fan of the originals.I just look at the original and the remake as to seperate movies instead of trying to compare them.

I love rob zombie's Halloween remake. I am a huge horror fan! What I like about zombie is he takes things to a much more sinister level. Brutal and raw much like the original texas chainsaw massacre but better. I love reading true crime novels and zombie was very direct and sadistic. I've watched his movies several times and I love his music. Look forward to the sequel.

OH GOD! NO!!!!! First off halloween could of been better without all the language and nudity and sex my god it was a porno! It had a good story but come on do we really need to see a black guy in a bathroom taking a **** looking at a vagina and boobs and all that, NO!! we don't! i'm 16 and i saw this with my mom. TALK ABOUT AWKWARD!. DO WE NEED TO SEE LINDA FULLY BUT ASS NAKED!! but i gotta see this new one cause im curious to see how this one will turn out. I WISH JOHN CARPENTER COULD OF DONE THE HALLOWEEN REMAKE AND THIS ONE! I bet hes dissapointed in what rob did to this masterpiece horror movie :(. ROB SWITH FROM MOVIES AND GO TO PORN!

Posted by: Da man on March 23, 2009 at 20:26:38

i think that the remake was pretty good simply because there was more killing action and more blood thats what a horror movie should have and if Zombie decides to make a sequel then thats fine with me becasue a lot of people went to go see that movie and i also heard that if Zombie does make a sequel it will come out on halloween im pretty sure people would watch it then

Posted by: Braxton on March 25, 2009 at 01:36:47

I think the bottom line is Zombie was not going to please everyone no matter what he did and he knew that so that is why he did the re-imaging of the film and not just a straight remake. He put his own vision and spin on his version. One of the most obvious differences was that Michael was 10 instead of 6 like in the original. It was not a ''remake'' that is what people need to realize. The original was groundbreaking and that will never be changed, that is why it is considered a classic. The new one will never be considered anything more than a modern horror film. I thought he brought alot of interesting elements to the new version. I liked how he showed his childhood and showed him in the institution but I thought the second half of the movie was not too great. I hated how big he was...everything was just over the top but that is the way Zombie saw it. As for the new H2...I don't have a problem with it because the original series is done.

Wow your all ignorant and retarded Zombies take on Halloween Rocked he made it more pulse pounding and gruesome and just a fun edge of your seat experience. Don't get me wrong the first one is a classic and i love it but Zombie did AMAZING on a remake and 2 days ago when i saw the new trailer i was so happy for H2!!!! I am so excited to see it a midnight Premiere it will rock, but give him kudos the first one rocked and so will the second
