this news put the biggest smile on my face! thank you so much Lionsgate (and SHOCK for breaking the news!). i take back my gripes towards LG for their treatment of Midnight Meat Train, REPO and The Burrowers. Paramount can F^UCK OFF. Lionsgate is finally giving us horror fans AND MBV fans what we've waited 20ish years for! YAY!!

I'v never seen the original. Whats in these deleted scenes everyone keeps talking about?

Well well well, looks like our online campaigns to LG made a difference. The power of the net compels them!
Congratulations to everyone who contacted LG.
Now I'm off to pre-order this beauty!

Now they just need to put something in the credits that definitively says once and for all who wrote the theme song.

Holy crap I just creamed my shorts. I'll be picking up this badboy.

ico, the deleted scenes stuff is all about the kills/gore (there was something like 8-10 minutes i think of gore cut out of the movie due to the lame-a$$ MPAA). i'm so effing excited and really happy that Lionsgate DOES care about it's horror base. i was ready to write them off but all is forgiven! LOL.

Holy crap, this is exciting! I can't wait to see this movie the way it was always meant to be! Lionsgate actually did something right for a change! I, too, am shocked!

I bought MY BLOODY VALENTINE and APRIL FOOLS DAY togehter on one disc last week for $8 at Wal-Mart. I had no idea the special edition was even coming out.

Brian, Paul Zaza wrote "Ballad of Valentine."
And nice work, dedicated fans. I would have died a happy man with just a reel of trims in the supplements section. Now I can die a happier man.

By the way, any news on what regions the DVD will be released in? I hope it's not just R1, I'm in Europe and I really want to see the uncut version!
Posted by: shireboi on December 8, 2008 at 19:08:04
this promo artwork still shows the US 'R' Rating next to the Paramount logo. Is this Lionsgate DVD going to be UNRATED version - or a lame attempt at giving us an uncut version ? I await reviews before purchasing this.
Posted by: Sam on December 8, 2008 at 19:16:28
Shireboi? It says you're getting it cut and uncut, so of course it's going to have the MPAA "R" on there.

One of the deleted scenes that takes place in the mines, is when a hapless victim get picked up off her feet and gets the back of her head smashed repeatedly onto a rusty shower pipe that has the shower head missing.
He bangs her head on it until the pipe comes out her mouth.. Then, he turns on the water a bit, and out comes water and blood. Cool effect!
