Dark Horse Entertainment's Mike Richardson is relishing the modicum of success Bruce Campbell's
My Name is Bruce is currently generating.
"On one screen we did $18 thousand in New York City. For the three-day weekend, our per screen average was like $16 thousand, it's amazing," the producer says.
The horror-comedy, which finds Campbell playing a distorted version of himself and saving a town from a supernatural threat, is currently touring the U.S. Richardson reveals there are still plans to hatch a sequel and dishes a bit of the plot.
"We have an idea where [Bruce] is going to visit a country in Europe and he thinks he's got an all-expense-paid stay there," he explains.
"They put him up in a big castle and he thinks there are groupies running around, but they're not really groupies, they're minions. It's Bruce and he's going to play the same clueless character."
Expect Ted Raimi - who plays multiple roles in the first
Bruce - to encore, possibly in drag. Says Richardson,
"I was on the phone with Ted Raimi telling him I was going to put him in a dress. He said, Great, I'm trying to extend my acting range.
"
"It's unfortunate about some of the reviews that came out of the press that were by people who don't get [My Name is Bruce] at all," Richardson sighs.
"We made this for the fans and for a specific fan, the Bruce fans. I count myself as one. Every Bruce fan we've shown this to has a lot of fun."

Mike D,
So its they're fault you havent seen it yet, and they should wait for you?
sequel talk is just sequel talk. everyone who works on a movie does it even while they're filming, as a lot of movies leave open an option for that at the end. it doesnt mean anything. I dont think you have to worry about the second one coming out before they release this on DVD. Just give it a couple months. jeez

Mike D,
go back into the hole you crawled out of. Nobody is gonna wait for you to release their movies at your convenience. If I made movies , I would definitely make them at at your inconvenience. lol.

I havent even seen the first one yet.
I agree with what he says about the reviews, this movie was made for a very specific audience and i'm surprised this was made at all just for that reason.
I still feel that he made this because he's relieving stress from not making Evil Dead 4. The same reason for Raimi's Drag Me to Hell.

I saw the movie about 3 weeks ago in Manhattan with my wife who is also a fan of bruce's.A good time was had by all.The movie seemed to be just about sold out.Bruce came out at the before the start and said hello and did a little introduction. He also came out at the end of the movie for a Q and A session. Now Bruce is funny and engaging but the fans had nothing for him just a bunch of dumb questions.I know he was getting exasperated and I think he actually forgot to tell the people there that he had books he was selling .I saw them setting up a table before the movie. My wife and I would certainly go to see a second film with the same theme especially if he was there for another Q and A session hopefully with some better questions this time.

So I just got back from a showing of "My Name is Bruce" and I asked him about the sequel news. After getting a little razzing from him about how everything you read online is true, he said that they would maybe do a sequel if like 7000 more people went and saw it a couple times each. Then again the news is just early talk but still, he didn't sound to confident, what do I know.

i'm with that guy. caught the tour this past weekend (as i've already bragged about in another bruce related post), and he really didn't seem too "stoked" on the idea of a sequel. it COULD happen, but i feel like we're jumpin the gun a bit on this one.
