Exclusive: No More Underworld for Kate?

ComingSoon.net/ShockTillYouDrop.com had a chance to sit down with actress Kate Beckinsale earlier today for a casual interview about Rod Lurie's upcoming drama Nothing But the Truth, featuring an amazing performance by Ms. Beckinsale that should turn a lot of heads.

We talked mostly about that movie and some of the other things she has coming up but eventually, our conversation got around to the Underworld series of which the trailer for the prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans recently debuted. After talking about her husband, director Len Wiseman's involvement as the co-writer and producer with that movie, we asked whether she would have interest in returning as Selene for another movie continuing her story. She did think they might continue the series beyond the upcoming prequel, but she wasn't sure if she'd continue doing them.

"I think they're still going, they probably will. I'm not sure I will," she told us. "I feel like I've played that character enough times that I don't think I'd be excited to play the same character again. It's a weird experience. I've never done that before, you're playing the same character in two movies, and after two, I feel like I'm kind of done with that."

Look for our full interview with Ms. Beckinsale including more on the Underworld prequel and what's going on with Whiteout over on ComingSoon.net sometime next month, before Nothing But the Truth premieres in L.A. (and hopefully New York!) on December 19 and its wider rollout in January '09.

She should reconsider. Her and Len could work out a sweet deal to do another Underworld along with some other kind of dream project they both have. They could likely have a lot of creative control on whatever other Underworld they choose to do.

Kate is a fine actress, and she will always find work, but this role is iconic and it would be a shame to walk away from it. Certainly a lead roll in a popular series of movies would do more for her career and legacy than playing the wife/or girlfriend in an Adam Sandler comedy.

Kate Beckinsale is the hottest woman on the planet by far...

Agreed. But even her beauty and talent will not be able to erase the suckage of Rod Lurie's filmmaking. I'll be skipping NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH despite what I am sure will be a fine effort by her.

Is it just me or do these movies suck anyways? Who cares if she's in them or not, I won't be watching.

I agree with doug, none of the Underworld movies are really note is hot that good anyway. Kate is hot as hell, she was the only good thing going for the series.

The thing I never got about those awful films is why would a werewolf/vamp hybrid be some blue guy?

I, too, hope that Kate reconsiders her position with the movies. As Rupert P. pointed out, playing an iconic role such as Salene would do alot more for her career than playing the wife or girlfriend in an Adam Sandler comedy. Look at Wesley Snipes...he's been in tons of movies but he is most fondly remembered as Blade. What's so wrong in that?? At any rate, she ought to- at least- make one more movie to bring some closure to her character.
