Padalecki on Friday the 13th vs. Bloody Valentine

Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com
October 25, 2008

Those Winchester fellas from Supernatural are at it again, volleying jabs at each other now that they each have a horror movie coming up in 2009. And in a strategic move this week, New Line pit its Friday the 13th teaser, starring Jared Padalecki, against the trailer for My Bloody Valentine 3D, with Jensen Ackles, on the same day.

Continuing the smack talk which began on the Friday set here, and the retaliation recounted by Ackles' co-star Kerr Smith in this discussion, Padalecki explains to ShockTillYouDrop.com why Friday the 13th will be the better film. "Because Jensen's not in it and I am," he says when we caught up to him recently. "And I hope that gets back around to him. I'm very excited about My Bloody Valentine 3D. Jensen had a lot of cool things to say about it. He had a great time. But we've got Jason, though. We've got Jason!"

"You have to have fun," Padalecki goes on to say, commenting on the rapport with his co-star. "I grew up in Texas playing sports where talking shit is...like if you're friends with somebody, you can tell them 'Go F yourself' and not get a reaction. I respond better with the ribbing, so it was fun to call Jensen when he was working late. A few times he'd text me, 'Hey dude, you on set?' And I'd tell him I was off and going to sleep, so he'd make it a point to call a couple of hours later knowing I was asleep. It's cool, I love the fact that fans notice that, 'cause we have a great time."

You've seen both trailers now. So, who do you think came out on top with the best preview: Jared or Jensen?

Friday had the better trailer, easily. Bloody Valentine's trailer was a little cheesy. It was shown before Saw 5 and after it was done the audience, in the theater i was in laughed. I'm still interested in both though.

Does anybody think this new 3D thing is going to catch on? Or does ot just seem like a last ditch, desperate, effort by the studios to get audiences in the seats.

I honestly can't choose. I mean yeah, Jared's movie is expected to be good because it's Friday the 13th but I think Jensen's movie has a definite appeal to it....so I'm really excited for both because both men are fantastic actors.

my bloody valentine trailer looks better than friday the 13th trailer but i think friday the 13th is going to be better movie.

my bloody valentine definly has the better trailer but i they both look good. n_n

i agree w/ Chriss. the MBV 3D trailer was MUCH better than the FRIDAY teaser. i'm totally excited for BOTH films though. but if i HAD to choose, i'd say that i'm so much more excited about MBV. i love how Jared & Jensen can totally tease each other and have fun. i think it's disturbing and funny at the same time when some of their fans (and i consider myself a fan of BOTH) get their panties in a bunch and imagine a feud that's NOT there.

I'm excited to see 3-D return to the horror genre, and it already has caught on.

There is the still unreleased Angela Bettis slasher pic SCAR, and FINAL DESTINATION 4 and PIRANHA.

My Bloody Valentine looks SO much better than the F13 teaser...
They did a bad job on the F13 teaser. Should have released the Comic con teaser into Theaters ... would have got the audience a little hyped up, not completely bored them...

My Bloody Valantine trailer looks better for now. So I will wait to see the both movies and to decide which one is better.

The trailer for MBV3D made me laugh. But the Friday the 13th one was actually a bit scary.

I'm much more interested in MBV3D the trailer kicked ass and actually showed the storyline and actors, what did Friday's do? ...and do we really need another Jason movie? Seriously?!

I actually like both trailers and I'm also a big Jensen and Jared fan. It's cool seeing how they **** with each other on this.Kinda makes ya wonder if they have a little side bet going to see which movie does the best.I'll be going to see both of them for sure.

Why does this have to be a contest. They both looked good. I will be seeing both on opening day. Of course Friday will do better because it's the bigger name but that doesn't mean MBV isn't good.

Both of the trailers were good, but I really loved the voiceover on F13. It really sounded like the original Pamela. The thing about the series though is that it might be very good or very bad because of expectations (like Saw V; some hated, some liked). It has a lot to live up to, but I think both films will be kick ass!

I was more interested in the Friday the 13th trailer. This may not be better than the 1980 film to some people but it'll be worth the price of admission for those who want to see it. Plus, it has a gimmick in the form of acting and writing. Those two priceless gimmicks have been around long before 3-D was ever invented.

Now just imagine if they'd actually managed to get Jensen for Leon in the next Resident Evil picture. That would've been a better match up than Friday vs. Valentine. Much better.

Still, Jared does have an edge with Friday, but both of them look good. Valentine looks fun and so does Friday. So it's cool.

HorrorKing97, the only caveat to what you're saying about the writing, is that the writers of this FRIDAY movie are the same writers of FvJ. that's not a good thing. i AM totally stoked to see this movie though.

I think both teasers look awesome. F13 is gonna be bigger and have more of an attraction only because of the people behind it and because of how big of a franchise it is, that's all.

In the same breath, I'm really excited for both films. I've never seen MBV and it doesn't have the cult icon like F13 has with Jason. But they both look pretty awesome and I'm gonna be in the theater on opening day for both.

Posted by: Liz on October 26, 2008 at 03:11:11

I don't get to go to the cinema very often but I'll certainly be going to see F13. Can't wait, the trailer looks awesome and I'm excited to see it, especially since I've always been a big fan of the horror genre.

I'll still try and see MBV but only because of wanting to support Jensen.

Let's just say I won't watch My Bloody Valentine in theaters or on DVD, so I think I'll stick with Jason.

FRIDAY ALL THE WAY!

Posted by: MadameScary on October 26, 2008 at 12:29:26

Please keep Supernatural fans out of here. It is funny how we all know the people screaming 'MBB3D is going to be so much better' are Ackles crazy fans. F13 is F13, MBV is just crap.

I'm excited about both of these movie (aiming more towards F13th) But they both look good.

Next they should remake Phantasm with Hugo Weaving as the Tall Man.

I think because the Friday the 13th trailer wasn't a full trailer, and leaves you wanting to see more, it is better. BUT at the same time, I feel the My Bloody Valentine trailer was purposely made to be a bit cheesy. Its totally a 70s/80s type of trailer because 3D went out with that era. Also, the original version of the movie was in that era, so why try to make it all bad ass? Just have some fun with it. I think the 3D thing is something that the horror genera took over back then and forgot about, so they are bringing it back with My Bloody Valentine, Paranah, and Final Destination 4... Im really looking forward to all of them.
