Padalecki Bulked Up to Take on Voorhees

"Yes! It's a proud day in the Padalecki household!" actor Jared Padalecki beamed on the red carpet at the Scream 2008 awards show when I told him early reports from a recent
Friday the 13th screening applauded its high quotient of T 'n A.
"Too bad it wasn't me, man. I think my tits and ass were properly covered during the shooting of the movie."
Padalecki, who broke from shooting
Supernatural in Vancouver for Spike TV's ceremony in Los Angeles last night, explained to Shock why he's so enamored with Platinum Dunes' new Jason Voorhees
"[Jason actor] Derek Mears is a big guy, a capable guy. He's not just a big bear. I'm not a small guy and I actually put on weight for the movie," Padalecki admits.
"Because I thought if I was an audience member watching the movie, the last thing I would want to see is some guy who's tall and skinny fighting Jason. I wanted to at least look like I could take care of myself. So I started hitting the weights, protein shakes...but Derek brings a humanity to the character even through the mask. He's a human who's just had bad shit comes his way."
Is that to say the audience is going to empathize with Jason?
"Just for a split second before he starts massacring people. But he's like a pitbull. He's active and takes care of himself so you don't feel like you can easily crawl away from him."

Can't wait to see a bulked up Jared kick some Jason ass!!! Of course I'm sure Jason will kick some major ass of his own, he always does!

Jason is going to kick some serious ass here. I am sure Marcus Nispel did a great job with this remake.

Jared's very cool (and hot! can someone be both? LOL). he's been bulking up for a while now for/during Supernatural (a VERY underrated and great show!) but it makes sense if you're going up against Derek's Jason it might be helpful to have some muscle on your side! :)
i can't wait for this movie, even though a couple of the deaths have me a bit perplexed. they (2 of the kills) are NOT at all a usual Jason type kill (and not necessarily in a good way).

I've waited forever to see Padalecki in something that is not Supernatural.
Let's hope this movie is good and will not bomb so he can make many more movies and be free from that crappy CW show.

If you wanna see him in something that isn't supernatural related, then watch the first 4 seasons of Gilmore Girls. Supernatural is one of the best shows on tv right now. Well written, well acted, and funny.
As for the remake, i'm not going to see it. There's no good reason for it. The only valid reason to remake a movie (in my opinion) is to take a good concept with flaws and redo it and make it better. The original was a good horror film. Jason is constantly talked about in the film, so you think it's him doing the killing only to find out that it's his mother. Great twist.

what the F13 logo look like in this? Old school or new take on it?

Jared is going to do a great job in this movie and i can't wait to see his butt, i mean kick butt. lol. Not really into remakes but i think is remake is going to be great!

kristen, i'm w/ you! both My Bloody Valentine and Friday the 13th are the 2 movies i'm SO excited for!
Rob Watkins, i agree %100 w/ you. Supernatural is AWESOME! it's incredibly well written and acted and produced! a VERY underrated show that doesn't get the attention and respect it SO deserves.
and RHINO, check Jared out in HOUSE OF WAX. very good movie (IMO).

I agree Rhino, Supernatural isnt doing Jared any favors. It was good for him to get more experiance, but they havent used his talents since season one. This will hopefully be his big break!

Rob Watkins, it's obvious that I want to watch something new with Jared.
Think before writing a reply to someone you don't even know.
But maybe you can't do that, as you're clearly a "deangirl".
You like Supernatural but you're not gonna watch a movie with Padalecki blah blah..typical Ackles fan.
If you're not interested in this movie, then what the heck are you doing here reading and posting?
Posted by: rhino on October 19, 2008 at 19:03:27
Padalecki Fan, it's good to read something from a real Jared fan.
Supernatural was great in season one, but then the CW and the creator decided to turn it into the Ackles show with bad writing.
Jared really needs to be free from that teeny crappy CW show.
Let's hope this movie will be the beginning of a real career for him.
And mostly I really hope he will not have to deal with all the crazy Supernatural fans anymore, especially that annoying Supernatural creator.

Hey Rhino,I've been watching Supernatural since day 1,and still watch it every Thursday.Do you still watch it?Probably not.Jared and Jenson both have the potential to be some of the greater actors of this generation.I don't see at all where you get the word teeny about Supernatural,Jared is like 26 and Jenson is in his early 30's.It is,without a doubt, one of the best shows on television. It sure beats the hell outta some of that bull**** on CBS or NBC or some of them other kiss ass stations. This show has never been about just Jenson, its about two brothers, about both Jenson and Jared, fighting all kinds of crazy stuff.Maybe Rhino, you need to just go and rent the seasons and catch up dude, cause you do not have any clue what your talking about. While your at it,try and find some teens in it also.
As for the remakes,I can't wait to see this F13 remake. For one,I love remakes because they seem to be pissing a bunch of whiners off.Second,I'm a big Jared and Jenson fan and plan on seeing Valentine and Friday.Third,so far, most of the new remakes have been pretty good.

Yes! I can't wait to see this movie.
Jared and Amanda will be great together!

Hell yeah!

Yea Rhino, its good that Jared has fans. I honestly dont think he will keep many Supernatural fans after the show is over. I think he will gain a whole new fan base when he is a movie star. There arent very many Supernatural fans if you think about the country, and it seems a lot of those hate Jared. I think Friday will be his introduction into film (Since its his first theater release as the star and main character) and I think it will open alot of doors for him. This is clearly going to be a number one, and he is the star, I think alot of directors and producers will see how great he is.
It does suck that it turned into the Dean show, but at this point I am just waiting for Jared's career to take off after Supernatural. If things on the show don't get to be more about Sam, then I am going to stop watching and then just get the DVD's to support Jared later. I think its funny how hyper and excited Jared is about this movie, you can tell its like a refreshing change. Also the director and producers of this movie have said amazing things about Jared. I know this is the start of his career and he will become big. He has talent and everything else that he needs. Now he just needs a big break.

Dragon Lord 20/20, i agree w/ you! Supernatural is awesome. i'm 38 (far from a teeny bopper or whatever) and i think BOTH Jensen and Jared are terrific.
Posted by: djblack1313 on October 20, 2008 at 00:40:32
Padalecki Fan, i respect (and agree that Jared is awesome) but you act as if Jared is a total unknown. as you probably know Supernatural is averaging 3.6-ish million viewers, give or take. that's millions of fans.
i think it's interesting the split between fans of Jared and Jensen. it's the same thing with Gillian & David from "The Xfiles". people who love Gillian often bash David and vice versa. (i'm not saying you're bashing Jensen or anything).
Posted by: Padalecki Fan on October 20, 2008 at 02:09:32
Yes Three million is not very much at all. Well more than three million people are going to see this movie, thats millions of people who might not know who Jared is. Supernatural is far from a big break. It has its cult following, but it isn't that big.

I have my DVR set to record Supernatural each week. I'm especially enjoying this season. I've been waiting for both Jared and Jensen to make the jump to the big screen. I don't think horror remakes are going to be their big breaks though.
Especially Friday the 13th. From what I heard the writers completely changed the origins from the 1st one. The killer is Jason instead of his mother. Everyone knows the killer is Jason's mother. It was a live or die question in "Scream". And Jason is supposed to be super agile and quick. If any of this is true the film is already in trouble.
I'll still see it. I want to see how Jared stacks up against the hockey mask. Maybe not in the theater but it'll be a good DVD night movie.

I am going to see this film as many times as I can in the theater
