Visitor Cut from Friday the 13th

October 17, 2008

Actress Nana Visitor reportedly didn't make the cut of Platinum Dunes' Friday the 13th test screened for audiences in Los Angeles.

Visitor, frequently recognized as Major Kira on Deep Space Nine, was cast as Pamela Voorhees in the Marcus Nispel-directed reboot of the Voorhees franchise. One viewer in the screening tells those on the boards at the F-13 Community that there is, "No mother in the movie, she is mentioned though (20 years prior to the movie)."

This test screening spy reported back with a positive opinion of the film saying there's more sex in it than any of the previous Friday entries, Jason was "strong" (although the viewer was on the fence about a few creative decisions made) and that there was definitely a door left open to a sequel.

No doubt Platinum Dunes will be tweaking Friday the 13th until its February 13, 2009 release date. Stay tuned for a set report!

Pamela seems to be an important character in this movie. I know she can't have significant screen time, but she should at least have an appearance. Hope they don't drop the ball on this. Jason is iconic.

i happy about the opening ending.
and it seems the movie will run 2 hours around!if they won't cut it before.

i dont like that fact that jason is a real man and not dead and i all so hate that jason has under ground tunnels how long did it take hin to dig the tunnels 40 years. one man at a rate of idk 12 hours a day can dig un miles of tunnels that spand 7 feet high and 5 or 6 feet wide that feel this is going to be crap an and ship all over the older films. at least with rob zombies halloween he kept it real and myers was myers but with f13 remake jason is only a fake reincanation of him self.

its all most as if they said to them selfs hey if it worked in taxas chain saw it will work for this film and they will mess it up

well that depend how much reshoot they make. cause all the supernatural thing is gone.

Ugh, its starting already. I admit, I'm really excited for this, as much as I despised the TCM remake, I'm all about more Voorhees. But no Pamela? That sucks, a lot. And what's this about Jason being a real person? And digging tunnels? Getting a little worried here...

THANK GOD Jason is HUMAN again and not the lumbering, i-can-catch-the-fastest-runner-in-the-world-even-though-i'm-slowly-walking theme. that was SO lame.
for those interested over at IMDB (under the Friday the 13th 2009 board) there's an entire death list from someone who went to the screening. for the most part the deaths are cool sounding. a couple of them have me scratching my head, though.

Well I just want to be the first to say how glad I am that there is more sex in this movie than any other. You know, what with just how great Hostel was and all, this was really really the foremost thought on my mind, just how smutty can they make this. Thank you, thank you so much Platinum Dunes. Quick now, off you go to get to work destroying Nightmare on Elm Street.

@%#$@*!!!!!

This sucks... Nana Vistor is a great actress and was perfect for Mrs. Voorhees. She was the one bit of casting that sparked my interest.

Who picks up a human head? If it's not realistic, it ain't scary! From the stills, it looks like this was shot as if it's a pretty music video. These guys don't have a clue and we will suffer another weak horror film.

I understand that this kind of stuff has to happen sometimes ( in fact, most of the time) but it gets annoying when i hear these kinds of things.

I saw this already. It was staring up at me from the toilet before I flushed it....

Che...Che...Che...Ahh...Ahh...Ahh...
I can't wait for the remake of the remake.

Why not have Pamela Voorhess? This is her movie after all, not Jason's. Jason just followed in his mother's footsteps. His Mommy is the original G...a badass ***** with a score to settle. For real, take Jason out of this and give that ***** her movie back or she'll kill you.

I'm not stressing until I see the actual movie. I am a huge fan of the Friday The 13th Series and enjoy watching the New Line's Jason this, Jason that follow ups. The Mythology of Jason only comes second on my list, Michael Myers being#1 in horror. And did I miss something here? Last I read was that this story was supposed to embody the original first four parts with a kind of an expanded universe story that suppose to explains things in between parts 1-4. Also for those of you who is upset that he is real and not dead you may not have realized this but Jason was a real person from part 2-4 in which part 4 he dies and part 6 he gets resurected as an undead demon. Also I'm pretty sure Pamela Voorhees is in this one, for they had casted someone for the part. Now, I have an open mind if they are going for some sort of original story that takes place within the first four parts of the original. Last that footage of Jason running up to that girl about to take a wack at her did give Jason a sense of realism and scary at the same time. And I feel if you are true fans of any original movies from any genre, remakes/reimaging will always be made and no matter if they turn out to be very good or very bad, nothing will every outdue the original. Besides, I would have rather they take a "fresh" approach at this than to contiue to make any more comedy horror like they did with Jason X and Jason VS Freddy. Keep these titles strictly horror!!!!

FUKOFF

I agree with you that we should wait and see before we jump to conclusions but this movie doesnt fit into the original storyline continuity, everyone attached to it have said that it's a "retelling" with components of the stories of parts 1-4.

"I'm pretty sure Pamela Voorhees is in this one, for they had casted someone for the part."

They did cast the part but the person they cast (whose named Nana Visitor) doesnt appear to be in the movie. Thats what everyone's complaining about.

I think what they could have done, if they had to go back in the series, is explain where he's been inbetween parts 1&2.

I have to say that i don't agree with you on Micheal Myers. I find him to be boring, he's very similiar to Jason (who i know was created after him) but it's no big deal, it's you're opinion. My favorite is Freddy Krueger, yes, he has become a characture in the sequels but at least he has a personality.

sounds that people loved the movie.

I couldn't help read the spoilers, but then again, it's not The Sixth Sense 2, it's just Friday the 13th. Sounds interesting though, I wonder how they'll tweak it before the final cut and what will be left for unrated/deleted scenes on DVD.
