The gates of Hell been slammed shut temporarily. Three-time Oscar winner and visual effects artist Randall William Cook (The Lord of the Rings) gave me the lowdown on

I remember seeing "The Gate" as a kid. It wasn't that great a flick, but it was fun. With Cook at the helm, I could've given this remake a shot. But since he's not there's no point. I give him kudos, though, for not settling for a script less than stellar.

I meant to ask Randy about this too! What a loss! Randy could bring so much to this film. His forced perspective shots in the original are brilliant and look better than anything we see on the screen today! Someone actually cares about making the screenplay better and they get let go! It makes me so sick!

Dude, I forgot all about this movie until I just read this article. Title sounded familiar then I had to look it up on wikipedia. I loved The Gate. It's been years since I've seen it, but it wasn't a bad flick. Pretty creepy if you watched it as a kid. Yeah, just don't screw around with mysterious holes in your back yard and playing music backwards. That just makes for a bad combo...

I was at the AFM (American Film Market) and heard that the film is actually on the fast track. The producers already have a new young director who everyone seemed really excited about. Two sides to every story my mom used to say. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

the remake should be PG or PG 13 not r rated.
devon werkheiser, lil jj and emma roberts are my pick for the movie

PG13?!?! are you effing mad?
why must all the great horror flicks of my youth suddenly be remade or sequaled as crappy pg rated kid flicks with watered down story lines and a mac computer or iphone in every other damned scene
this is the kind of thing that lost this very film its best chance at a serious director
and of course jr the producers are excited that they got some young easily manipulated "director" who will just go along and make the kind of crap movie that they are trying to peddle
personally id feel heaps better if they just droped the film alltogether allowed the option to laps so that someone who is going to treat the project with the respect and attention it needs can come along and do it justice
did anyone see the pg13 remakes of when a stranger calls or prom night??
i rest my case
