Horror movies, comic books, television shows and other genre fare are in the spotlight as Spike TV announces the nominees of this year's third Scream Awards.

I hope The Dark Knight wins in every category!!!

the pencil trick better win for best mutilation... haha i love these awards

BEST COMIC BOOK -- Hack/Slash, for sure.
Finally, a comic that is unorthodox and as witty as it is dark. My vote will be cast iron for that one. Mustants is so last season... so its all about hot goth girls who kick ass with monster sidekicks.

I'm really glad that Iron Man is nominated for the ultimate scream, because that movie was Exorcist scary.

I mean, a man that wears an iron suit to save the innocent? I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

JOKER, JOKER, Heath Ledger was the best Joker ever... hopefully the dark knight wins everything!

“I believe whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stranger”, lol yea its so true... ^_^

no offense to Dark Night fans, but can't ANY other movies be included in SOME of the categories other than Dark Night. why don't they just call this 'The Dark Night categories Awards Show'.

Posted by: adam on September 10, 2008 at 19:35:58

i think its very safe to say that THE DARK KNIGHT will walk away with everything its nominated for.

the dark knight defined 2008

I look forward to this show every year, because it's a celebration of all things geek! Even though it's obvious there won't be any big surprises (in regards to who's going to win the nominations) I'll still be tuning in. "The Dark Knight" deserves it's nods, because it exceeded in not only being the best comic-book film of the year, but by also being creepier than most horror flicks that have come out this year.

Its kind of odd that Enchanted is a nominated movie for the Scream awards...

You guys can see some of the photos I took from last year's show here:

It's hard to pick a favorite line from TDK. Heath's lines were great from "Why so serious?" to "I will make this pencil disappear," and "I believe whatever doesn't kill you makes you stranger."

It's hard to choose between them because they are flat out the best lines in the selections but which one to choose...

Posted by: nuffsdaid on September 11, 2008 at 10:24:27

How come this line wasnt in?
" Madness as you know is like gravity, all it takes is a little push! "
That line right there defines all three freaks ; Joker, Batman, and Two-face.

Oh and dark knight just isnt the best superhero movie of the year but of ALL TIME !

The Dark Knight > Richard Donner Superman
The Dark Knight > Spider-man 2

I love the SCREAM awards. It's way better than the horrible CHAINSAW AWARDS they did on FUSE. My only question: Why wasn't SUPERNATURAL nominated as best TV show? Last season was excellent.
I'm also hoping Christian Bale walks away with best SUPERHERO. I'd like to see Ron win for HELLBOY, but TDK fared as a better movie. Now if only the MTV Movie Awards could be this cool.

Posted by: Shane on September 11, 2008 at 13:51:10

nuffsdaid...i had to disagree with you a little

The Dark Knight = Spider-man 2

They are both the standard of what a superhero movie should be imo

Posted by: Ruttle on September 11, 2008 at 16:30:25

Sorry to burst the nominations bubble, but the CORRECT line is "I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you....stranger."

Posted by: joe asylo on September 11, 2008 at 16:31:48

i give the comic category, to brian K. Vaugn.
Y is the best work in comic today.
lets be honest the dark knight is gonna take the wins. period.

Posted by: Some Dude on September 11, 2008 at 17:00:05

Hell,I suprised they did not nominate TDK as best tv show.Hell, its on just about everything else, jackasses

Posted by: ico on September 11, 2008 at 23:39:13

BEST COMICBOOK PLOT TWIST

The Walking Dead, easily!

Posted by: Pirate Tim on September 12, 2008 at 00:34:32

Scariest Horror Movies this year? IRON MAN was on par with ROSEMARYS BABY. BATMAN is THE NAME in HORROR!!! What?.....those are Comic Book movies? Then what the hell are they doing in something called SCREAM 2008? If they get in, then FLY ME TO THE MOON and WAL-E get in as well.

Posted by: nuffsdaid on September 12, 2008 at 11:13:58

Shane I will have to disagree.

Spiderman 2 while being very good followed the comic book movie formula.

The Dark Knight DESTROYED all comic book cliches! The love interest got blown up, the villain won, and the hero lives long enough to see himself become the villain.

Posted by: Doctor Splatten on September 12, 2008 at 12:12:03

nuffsdaid, I agree with what you said earlier. I never expected a movie to actually be better than Richard Donner's Superman. After thiry years, a new standard has been set.

Posted by: Ted Bundy on September 12, 2008 at 16:12:11

Batman doesnt deserve sny award IRONMAN deserves all of them. Batman wasnt even the best movie of the summer let alone year!
The only reason it made money because Heath died and gave an overrated mediocre performance.

Posted by: MOVIE MASTER on September 15, 2008 at 23:41:34

dang it i didnt see 2006 scream awards only 2007 thank god its coming bak i was waitin for this to finally show up now the dark knight is gonna rip every award on the list sorry to say it and another thing i know something the batman didnt win its best remake and it definetly hands down goes to the incredible hulk

Posted by: Patrick on September 16, 2008 at 02:13:29

The Dark Knight should win in every category

Posted by: deb on September 21, 2008 at 21:58:56

I love these awards, but why wasn't SUPERNATURAL a contender for best TV show? And where the heck is Jensen Ackles? Jared Padalecki as best actor? What the --?!
