WTF? Why are people paying to see a screening of a movie that came out in the 80's? I'm lost.

Wil: Have you seen The Fly? Or are you perhaps being sarcastic?

Wil are you serious?! David Cronenberg is a legend and Howard Shore is an amazing film composer (Silence of the Lambs, Lord of the Rings, etc). to get to meet them and ask them questions is an awesome opportunity. Plus to see a movie that a lot of people my not have seen on the big screen ON the big screen is a plus.

Where the hell was Wil to warn me against going to see Citizen Kane, Close Encounters and the Star Wars Trilogy in theaters in the 90's?

Damn, that first comment depresses the hell out of me. Just as much as the guy who made it a point to call me out over a simple typo in Geena Davis' name and misspelled it himself.

This is to WIL, First of, the reason why they are showing the fly in theatres is for an AFI DIRECTOR SERIES. And secondly, showing a classic movie to hit one or more big screens is cool to see cause thats how us true hardcore movie fans like. Now I know we are nerds and you are right but it's something that we want to be interested in. So please do not criticize us. Thank you!

I wasn't critizing at all. i've seen the fly; original, remake and the sequel. I just didn't know why people were shyelling out several hundred dollars to go see it. I love the movies but I wouldn't pay that much money even if Jeff Goldblum was there. I said I was lost because I didn't understand. You guys are sensitive.

I only shyelled out $12 for my ticket.
Cronenberg doesn't do alot of these kind of gigs, so it was a no-brainer for me. I know alot of friends who are attending as well, so it should be a blast.

See ya there for sure, Brewster.

Always Rotten One.
I am wondering how many elbows I'm going to have to throw to get a pic with the Legend?
I can't wait for THE KEEP next month at New Beverly!

Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis in The Fly which was the best horror film of 1987 about a scientist that gets his DNA and a house fly's DNA spliced together in botched teleportation experiment, then mutates into a grusome creature thats half man and half fly. Seth Brundle (Goldblum) and his girlfriend Ronnie A.K.A Victoria (David) experiance a transformation for Bundley fly that defies the laws of man and unhuman nature. The Fly II was better with Eric Stoltz.

wouldn't missed for the world.

If I lived on the west coast I would most definately attend this screening. I think it's important to not forget classic films like this...as we are so bombarded w/ crappy and unnecssary remakes of films...it's ironic because this is a remake of a classic, but the only difference being this was done w/ smarts, style and fine actors. We should not forget the classics, because we're a society that's getting too comfortable in embracing mediocrity...in all forms of entertainment, and we should learn from the classics...because they're just that.
