Sitges Announces Festival Slate

July 16, 2008

If you're lucky enough to attend Catalonia's Sitges International Film Festival (running October 2 - 12), you're in for one helluva treat. The organizers have announced, via the festival's site, some of the genre pics selected for this year.

Although Sitges is turning its eye towards science fiction this year (it's dedicated to the 40th anniversary of 2001: A Space Odyssey and will feature a slew of old school sci-fi retrospective screenings), horror will still carry some prominence. Martyrs, Vinyan, Surveillance, Eden Lake, The Chaser, Tokyo! (a "fantasy fable directed three ways by genre gurus Bong Joon-ho, Léos Carax and Michel Gondry"), Repo! The Genetic Opera, Sexy Killer and many more are on the in and out-of-competition slate.
