Updated: Halloween: 30th Anniversary DVD Coming

Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com
July 14, 2008

Updated with artwork!.

Myers fans, make more room on your DVD shelf. Sources tell ShockTillYouDrop.com that an ad will appear this week in one of the video trade papers announcing a new six-disc (!) Halloween: 30th Anniversary box set. The latest presentation will include:

• HALLOWEEN Restored (original 1978 version)
• HALLOWEEN Extended Edition (out of print for years)
• HALLOWEEN 25 YEARS OF TERROR: Disc 1
• HALLOWEEN 4 DiviMax
• HALLOWEEN 5 DiviMax
• HALLOWEEN Blu-ray (bonus disc)

As an incentive, distributor Anchor Bay will package the set with a miniature Michael Myers mask.

Hmmmm....I think I'll just wait five years for the inevitable eight-disc special edition: which I'm sure will offer plenty more versions of the film, such as one in which you can watch the film in reverse.
And everyone knows the "extended version" is just the one where they put in the "tv footage" that Carpenter loathed. This is just another one to get idiots to buy a movie they already own. Good luck if you do!

really it seems every year they come out with a new special edition hopefully this will be last one, Im glad i dont own the first halloween movie, now i can since i dont see how or why they would come out with another one.

the version (or a version!) i want to see is that "found footage" that the producers (or somebody) found in some boxes in a wherehouse somewhere. Fangoria did a little story on it. it supposedly had like different camera angle shots, different takes (or something). they were supposed to be working on a release or had plans for this rare footage. now that i'd like to see!

i love Halloween but... didn't they just bring out the 25th Anniversary addition last year? This doesnt make sense

Posted by: djblack1313 on July 13, 2008 at 18:44:38

as lame as i made the found footage article sound, it really DOES sound cool. here's the link:

dj black i think thats the extended version u are talking about, they usually use to show that version on cable where at the en there was different angles when michael was getting shot off the balcony

Posted by: Fox Mulder on July 13, 2008 at 19:41:21

There was additional footage found that isn't the footage that Carpenter shot for the "Extended/T.V. Cut". As djblack1313 said, it was different takes and different angles.

I own a couple versions of Halloween, but unless this has something amazing, I'll pass. I really don't get having a Blu-Ray release in a DVD boxset. I know that a lot of people don't own BR, so it would basically just be a waste to include it.

fubar, check out the link i posted (for the Fangoria article). i think it's different than the cable version you mention (but i could be wrong). in the article it mentions how certain scenes were shot totally differently (i.e. the clothesline scene & a different ending, i think. i need to re-read the article again. LOL).

What does a 'miniature' Michael Myers mask mean? Can't we just have a normal sized one?

Posted by: Brian on July 14, 2008 at 06:09:12

Hahahah oh man, I love Anchor Bay. I bet anything it comes out in August - just like the editions in (count em up) 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2007 were.

You know, I actually remember a time when the movie was out of print and VHS copies were hard to come by. Now it must be the most accessible DVD of all time.

My god, there is a new edition of this movie every year. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie, and think it is still the greatest of it's genre, and forever will be. However, it's absolutely ridiculous to continue to put out anniversary editions and 'collectors' editions, nothings really that special if its replaced every damn year. It's sad enough every great horror franchise is being raped with a horrible remake, now we are milking them for every penny, adding a new bonus feature a year to entice the foolish..sad

Will one of those discs contain an interview with Michael at the OLD FOLKS HOME?

This is a bit overkill!!!!

Posted by: Romeo Garcia. on July 14, 2008 at 11:10:04

let me see,,,they are the 10th anniversary edition, then the 20th edition, then the 25th edition and now the 30th edition???....i mean whats new in the movie???,,new footage, deleted scenes and/or extended scenes or alternative ending???..i don't think so....another one edition!!!..what's next???...director's cut or extended director's cut???...

Man, I just bought the stand alone Halloween DVD a couple of years ago. Sorry, but I'm not throwing down for this DVD again, mine has only been watched a couple of times anyway since I've owned it and is in mint condition. If it was all scratched up or something, then it would be a different story.

Posted by: thevoiceinmyhead on July 14, 2008 at 16:40:10

everything's value is the amount that they can get for it. If no one buys it, maybe they will get a clue and we will not see a new anniversary edition, special edition, collectors edition, special collectors edition, ultimate special collectors edition every year or so

Posted by: Chuck on July 14, 2008 at 17:47:37

well sign me up
i have this movie
i dont know what edition
but its fairly new
but i this one for a couple things
that new footage plus the blu-ray one
and of course that mask looks really cool
even though i have that mask already its still cool :D

Posted by: fubar on July 14, 2008 at 18:01:16

I thought this was a 6 disc special edition of the first one, so why is there halloween 4 and 5 in this? I already got a copy of 4 and 5 does that mean i still have to buy this if i want the extended cut? Or will they sell those seperate too?

Posted by: fubar on July 14, 2008 at 18:05:12

Funny I guess rob zombies ending in his version wasnt really his because in the original script of john carpenters Michael died at the end, **** i never new that, thanks for the link dj black

Posted by: fubar on July 14, 2008 at 18:08:28

I wish they would have a 2 disc edition you could buy with the theatrical version and the extended version too, sort of like what they did with the blade runner final cut dvd, where you can choose which edition you want 2disc,4disc or the 6disc.

With all the technology that we possess we can't get a group of people
to create a Myers mask that looks like the original?!! Is it that difficult?
It looks like he's frowning. The mask from 4 looks better than that crap.
Seems to me that if you have no more footage to show and no more "making of" documentaries left, you should hold of till the milestone ages like 10, 20, 50, unless you have something new and fresh...which I'm
sure they don't. How about a documentary where you capture all the original cast and crew's faces as they watch Rob Zombie take a cleveland steamer on there classic film with his nonsensical, blasphemous re-imagining?

Posted by: djblack1313 on July 14, 2008 at 19:46:35

fubar, no problem! :)

MOJO80, i totally agree w/ you about the mask. it looks terrible! i doesn't look like the original mask OR the awful mask from part 5 (or 6?). i forget which movie had the REALLY lame mask.

Posted by: Eddie on July 14, 2008 at 22:47:22

Nothing new here?

What movie is that mask from? That mask looks too funny.
They should of had someone from http://www.nightowlpro.com/ or http://www.cemeterygateproductions.com/ design that mask.Whoever designed that mask did not watch any of the movies.

I guess I will pass on this one.

Posted by: Fox Mulder on July 14, 2008 at 23:09:55

I'm not picking this up. I already own the restored version, 4, 5 and 25 Years of Terror...so I see no point in picking this up. Sounds like Anchor Bay has some of these things stockpiled so they need to move them fast.
