Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral to Enter Pre-Production
Source:Fangoria
July 9, 2008
Jeepers Creepers creator Victor Salva reveals to Fangoria that pre-production is about to begin on Jeepers Creepers III: Cathedral for MGM.
"One aspect of the third film features Trish Jenner [Gina Philips], who, 23 years later, has a teenage son of her own, named Darry after her long lost brother," Salva tells the site. "Trish is having a terrible recurring dream where her son meets the same terrible fate as her brother. Now a rich and powerful woman, Trish is determined to stop the Creeper once and for all."
Salva, who penned and directed the first two lucrative entires in the franchise, adds that the long-rumored "Old West" approach to the Creeper will be seen in the beginning of the film. The origin of the Cathedral subtitle is one thing he is remaining mum about. Look for actors Ray Wise, Jonathan Breck (as the Creeper) and the first film's menacing truck to return.

...didnt they pretty much take care of the Creeper in the 2nd movie?
Posted by: Steve on July 9, 2008 at 13:49:14
no, he wasn't KILLED. The ****er was just hybernating. I still don't know why he can't be killed. Is that bastard immortal or what?!

I can't wait for this to come out, I hope its as good as the first 2. they are fantastic horror movies.

Is this going to be a straight to DVD sequel like Lost Boys: The Tribe? Or will it be in theaters? I think the plot sounds cool and since it goes back to the first one I have faith that itll be much better the JC2.

hey, a sucky title to a sucky and pointless sequal to a sucky "horror" series, now all I need is for them to make the Seed of the Seed of Chucky, and Hatchet 2: Electric Boogaloo and we can all die happy

i am PSYCHED!! the fact Gina/Trish is returning is what sealed the deal for me. i loved her (& her character) in part 1 (part 2 was meh). this sounds like it's going to be great!

Discussions are underway about whether it's going theatrical or direct-to-DVD.

I like the Jeepers Creepers movies. They're not genius, but they are the best studio horror movies released in a very long time.

How do they intend to make this film even remotely believable when it's set 23 years in the future?
Posted by: Ryan Rotten on July 9, 2008 at 17:19:39
What do you mean, Cat? Are you expecting a future of towering cities, flying cars and people on jet packs? Because about 20, or so, years ago, I thought we'd be seeing that...yet here we are. It all still looks the same to me. :)
If you're concerned about the cast, well... Not sure how they're gonna pull that off.
I just never got the simple argument that JC 3 is not possible because it's set "in the future."
Posted by: Baytor on July 9, 2008 at 17:44:06
That's the thing about the Jeepers Creepers series, there's no real proof that it's set anywhere between now and the 1970s. The film has a certain timeless quality to it, so 23 years in the future could still be 15 years in the past.

couldn't there be more than 1 creatures alive per movie? maybe that will be the a way around the "future" thing.

If you recall, in the last little bit of JC2, it's 23 years after the second film and it looked like it was exactly the same, so it's not tough to do the future in these movies.

Ryan
Did you guys do the DVD giveaway yet for the Ruins DVD? I haven't seen anything on here. Just wondered.
I will be seeing this movie either way, whether it's in theaters or on DVD. I'm excited now. I'm hoping for in theaters. I saw part II in theaters and liked it.

Space Monkey, i'd like to know that too?

To Baytor:
I was thinking about that too today before I saw your post regarding the "timelessnes" of it. Other than the police car that the Creeper rode on top of in the first movie, there really wasn't anything in either film to pin point a specific year. If your going by the look of the cop car, then you could say yes, this takes place in 1998 or so. But really that's nitpicking. I don't think Salva imagined that he'd get to do a part 2. If he knew way in advance, then he could have had say a 70's cop car.
Not sure how they're gonna pull of Gina Philips aging 23 years, but remember, it's Hollywood and make-up and CG can pull it off.
But the icing on the cake for me actually is Ray Wise. The fact that we'll get to see Ray Wise (hopefully) watch the Creeper wake up (something we saw him waiting for at the end of part 2) is just friggin awesome! Will the Creeper let him live or kill him for the hell of it. He'd be too old for the Creeper to use any of his body parts.
Props too for still wanting to incorporate the Old West style theme in some capacity.
So with pre-production starting now, this probably won't be out on DVD/in theaters until summer 2009 or fall 2009.

Victor Salva: His work is often overshadowed by his conviction for sexually molesting a 12-year-old boy named (edit). Salva pleaded guilty in 1988 to five felony counts of child sex abuse; he served 15 months of a three-year prison sentence.

Loved the first, hate the second.
Mixed about this one, but I hope it goes theatrical.

I'm so freakin' happy right now! Gina Philips, Ray Wise, and Jonathan Breck are all returning! And the truck is returning too?! That's so f***ing awesome. I'm getting goosebumps all over because I can't believe this is finally happening. I'm so happy for Victor Salva and this film. If the studio doesn't put this to theaters, then they're making a big mistake! They would really be missing out on a whole lot of money. The Old West story at the beginning of the movie too? So awesome!

At some point in the first movie, the psychic say he has consumed too many hearts for his own to ever stop beating.
About the look of the future, it's alreay been answered :

This Creep most have nine lives.I hope its a good movie. But throw in a couple of "B" rated actors.Or someone like Vin Diesel in the mix and it might avoid a straight to dvd release.
