Release Date for Drag Me to Hell

Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com

Ghost House Pictures will release Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell on May 29, 2009. The move shows distributor Universal's confidence in Raimi's PG-13 return to horror, and just maybe it's hoping to bank on the time frame given The Strangers' success this year. That film was released on the May 29th weekend.

Hell, written by Raimi and his brother Ivan, stars Alison Lohman, Justin Long, Lorna Raver and Jessica Lucas. Lohman plays a gal trying to shake a curse put upon her by an old woman. Supernatural kookiness ensues.

I hope that Sam Raimi's new horror outing does well next summer, although I don't think that the PG-13 rating is going to go very well with this generation's fans(even though I can understand that it's there to lure in the younger summer crowd, ala Raimi's [Spring and Fall-released]productions of "The Grudge" and "The Messengers").

And BTW:with its youth audience-aimed cast,I wonder just where a (usually expected) Bruce Campbell cameo is going to fit into this(if there'll be one at all).

PG-13 has come a very long way since The Temple of Doom. I'm sure Sam will deliver!

You can get away with a hell of a lot of stuff in PG-13 these days. It's no big deal for a movie. If you want cheap boob shots, guts hanging out and the f bomb every other word, go rent staright to DVD trash like Feast 3. I'm sure Raimi put together a good movie for Drag Me To Hell.
