Where's the Alice Feature Film?
June 25, 2008
Every so often someone needs to step forward and provide a status on the live-action adaptation of American McGee's popular video game
Alice. This time, it's from producer Scott Faye who has some bittersweet news to report.
"The Alice project is presently in "turnaround" from Universal Studios," Faye tells McGee's blog.
"Jon and Erich Hoeber have written a very compelling feature film screenplay adaptation of the Alice game. Their screenplay will certainly serve as a jumping off point as we find a new studio home for the project. In terms of the realistic chances of seeing the Alice project being produced, all I can say is that I have invested (along with Julie Yorn and Karen Lauder, my producing partners on the project) a lot of time and effort in this project. We will get it made."
As we presumed in past news items, Sarah Michelle Gellar is
not attached to star.
"Her initial involvement was the result of a very talented and effective member of her management team who became aware of the project and pursued on Sarah's behalf."
And, Marcus Nispel, busy in post-production on
Friday the 13th, is
not directing. Faye is currently overseeing production on another vid game adaptation
Max Payne.

Man, years with no news at all...
I'm glad to know something is happening to Alice, though. I didn't trust SMG and Nispel that much, so I'm glad they're out the project.
We'll gonna have to keep waiting for American McGee's Alice... Why not let the American man himself direct? I mean, his videogame is pure genius!!!

I think that Sarah still could possible be attached (yay) because she actually owns the rights to the film
