Update: Regarding that Jonah Hex "Photo"

Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com

Update: It still doesn't have any official connection with the upcoming film, but the photo was created by Thomas Jane for kicks. The full story is here!

This morning we woke up to a few e-mails directing us to Film School Rejects who reportedly sport a conceptual image of actor Thomas Jane as Jonah Hex.

Well, it's a load of b.s. Cool, but fake.

Mark Neveldine, co-writer and director of the upcoming Warner Bros. film, just called to inform us he has no clue what that photo is or where it originated. What he is sure of is this: It's not legit. Neveldine is currently in post-production on Crank 2 with his partner Brian Taylor. The pair recently completed a script for Hex which is based on the DC comic book.

Or it's something Thomas Jane, no stranger to surreptitious online self-promotion he, did himself as a way of trying to ride some wave of fan support to get him the part in lieu of an audition. I think he's over-estimating his fanbase and it feels a little desperate.

You've got to be kidding me. I doubt that Thomas Jane, a man of his caliber, would need to go as far as to falsify a picture doctored of himself in a role he's looking to grab. The man was brilliant as Frank Castle and it was unfortunate he was placed in a film directed by, written by and conceived by idiots. If Lexi Alexander had her shot before hand with Thomas Jane there would be a sequel coming out this December not a revamp.

It's only desperate if it's true, in which case I agree unfortunately that's not the case here. I think someone got a tad over zealous with their opinion and it ran rampant as most internet rumors do. I have to say though the picture looks fantastic and Thomas Jane wouldn't be a bad choice for the role of Jonah.

Hasn't Jane done this before? Like, a lot? He even played dress-up for those Cal McDonald and Lurkers covers/promotional art to try to get those Steve Niles comics closer to film with him in the lead when they used to have a production company together at Lionsgate.

Bishop, you are obviously not a fan of Jane or of the comic genre. Yes, Thomas Jane did pose for the Cal McDonald/Lurker posters, AS WELL AS the Criminal Macabre covers, going back several years, since he and Niles became friends as far as I can tell. It was not a publicity stunt when in fact he and Niles were developing the Lurkers and Criminal Macabre stories for the screen. Both of those projects are still in the development stages, and Jane could still end up playing in both of them. Next time, get your facts straight before you shoot off your mouth.
And he still has a production (though it was never WITH Lionsgate) company. Again, check your facts.

Well like I said over at Hype It's to bad it's a fake but can someone tell me where the pic came from? That is Jane in the pic but what was he posing for?

Plus, Why did they send that info to Shock? It would have been a comic movie if they made it, Why send it to a horror site?

What kind of dumbass do you have to be to think that picture is real???? Oh that's right... Tom Jane fans are that stupid.

P: I can tell my your ignorant comments that you've never seen STANDER. Please don't speak until you know what you're talking about.

Bishop: no.

i saw stander and that also bombed at the box office

Posted by: Supreme Power on June 19, 2008 at 21:16:32

STANDER was an indy movie, and didn't see wide release. It didn't "bomb".
Thomas Jane is a great actor. Maybe all these morons who say he's a "pretty boy" and terrible and such are too busy thinking of him as the guy from THE SWEETEST THING (whom we all know any guy who watched that was only doing so cuz they were hoping an unrated movie starring Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, & Selma Blair did so in hopes of seeing one of them nude)

Instead, now we're gonna have to settle for a guy from the show ROME as Punisher and Newman on Seinfeld as 'Chip.
WTF?!

Posted by: fubar on June 19, 2008 at 22:10:42

ray stevenson is the punisher not tom jane i didnt believe him one second in that role im not saying he cant act im just saying he aint the punisher, ray stevenson has the voice and the look of the max comics, and for the teaser tat was one minute of footage and yes the spinning on the chandeliers was a bit silly but it wast as silly as the flaming skull from the blown up cars in that ****ty unfaithful 2004 version.

Posted by: fubar on June 19, 2008 at 22:16:58

and for wayne knight he looks like microchip and he can act, so quit hanging off of janes nutsack and accept the fact that you
know **** all about the punisher all you know of it seems is that 2004 version which probably is the first time you even heard of the character. know i'll let you go back to sucking off tom

Posted by: Ben_Sisko on June 20, 2008 at 13:06:17

I would say that's James Purefoy and not Thomas Jane

Posted by: gknight133 on June 21, 2008 at 10:26:30

Thomas Jane should be Captain America! I know he was Punisher, but that was all wrong for him. He's the All-American guy, Cap!
