Source:First Look Studios
June 18, 2008

Wintry thrills blow into theaters on July 18th when First Look Studios releases Brad Anderson's Transsiberian, starring Emily Mortimer, Woody Harrelson and Ben Kingsley. And ShockTillYouDrop.com has your exclusive look at the one-sheet.

In the film an American couple, Roy and Jessie, decide to take the long way home from their recent sojourn in Asia on the legendary Trans-siberian Express train from Beijing to Moscow. On their way, they meet another couple from the West, Carlos and Abby, with whom they quickly form a familiar bond that often unites fellow travellers away from home. When Roy accidentally gets separated from the group at a stopover, Jessie begins to realize that their compatriots aren't exactly who or what they seem to be. The real danger begins to surface as a deceitful Russian detective and locals terrorize Jessie in this unforgettable journey.

I don't know about you, but I'm going to skip out on "Dark Knight" and go see "Transsiberian". What! You're not?!?!

What? A Brad Anderson film not opening on more than 100 theaters? What is going on with this world?

What kind of sorry ass idea was to release a movie the same as The Dark Knight? Next to Ironman, Batman is the most anticipated and talked about movie of the year! I guess they could release it week before or after but as far as I'm concerned Nolan, Bale and Ledger own that date. Any febble minded simpleton should have enough brains to figure that out. Jackass.

Again...Jackass!!!!!

Gosh-- you mean NO OTHER MOVIE should open on the same day as TDK?? Well, maybe it's BATMAN who should get out of the way! Heck, you'd think Nolan & co. would feel threatened by an arthouse film... and rightfully so!

Okay, silliness aside, this is why "What Happens in Vegas" did shockingly well opening the same day as "Indiana Jones." Yes, people actually do want to see movies other than the Biggest Blockbusters Of The Year. Hard to believe, eh? So do yourself a favor and open that mind to other possibilities, eh?

And please use spell-check. That's what god put it there for.

Whoops, sorry, I meant "What Happens in Vegas" opened the same day as "Speed Racer." Aw, who cares?

Yeah, not many people were actually looking forward to Speed Racer. Most people will DVD it. It would have been crushed by Indy. Most teens went to see What Happens in Vegas whereas families went to see Speed Racer. Most adults who grew up with the cartoon didnt feel the need to see it and the teens thought it looked 'stupid' because of the bright plastic-y CG environs. So they went to see a bad movie which actually WAS stupid.

You need to gauge your audience and if you're geared for kids/nostalgic adults then opening with a movie geared for teens is not a good idea. But with Batman, everyone just KNOWS give it a good 1 1/2 week birth before anything they need to recoup money on. Hellboy II I think is in danger if it doesnt get the opening week it needs since the following week it will fall behind to what WILL be a record breaking opening for TDK.

Heeeeeey....I was looking forward to Speed Racer :p! And critics aside, most people who saw it liked it. What Happens in Vegas made me cry with terribleness T_T

Anyway! Looks like an interesting movie :o! Though it *is* going to get crushed at the box office...

Transsiberian won't make any money regardless of when they release it.

1) It doesn't matter if they release it with Dark Knight cause its a fringe horror/thriller movie that will only draw true horror fans.

2) If they release it the week before, they have to compete w/ Hellboy 2. The week after Dark Knight isnt any easier either...the X Files & Step Brothers come out.

3) The studio knew the only money they could make on this is through DVD rentals & purchases.

It really doesnt matter when they release it.
