Barker Endorses Meat Train Fan Campaign

Lionsgate's peculiar release designs for The Midnight Meat Train are not sitting well with horror fans.

Last week, Shock exclusively dragged into the spotlight the extremely limited distribution plans being discussed within the walls of the studio (details here). And all over the web, Barker's disciples are rightfully kicking up a fuss. They want to see this long-awaited adaptation on the big screen and, more importantly, in their town.

"I would passionately encourage everybody who cares about my work to use this chance to change the minds of the folks at Lionsgate," Barker recently stated on the Clive Barker's Revelations site. "This is exciting! I really think, this late in the day, that grassroots support for our movie could significantly improve our chances of reaching a much bigger audience theatrically. The picture is worth the effort, I believe."

it's ridiculous Lionsgate is ****ing over MMT. Clive shouldn't have to be out there gathering up support for the film. he deserves better than that. he's one of THE nicest people in the business i've EVER met. i'll be seeing the movie (IF it comes to a theater near me) & i'll buy the DVD to show my support for Clive.

Hey I'm Aussie and the way this film is goin in the U.S i'll be an old man when this finally makes it here and by then it'll be on dvd. This is Bullshiz I WANT TO SEE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN.

thanks to everyone for getting involved! this is the same fate that has befallen Darren Bousman's "Repo! The Genetic Opera" and there are more titles out there that will surely suffer as well.

Regardless of Lionsgate final decision on Meat Train, we have already had an effect by letting them know they are pissing off a huge segment of he horror community.

Why they would piss of the ranks of RABID CLIVE BARKER FANS and the legions of DARREN BOUSMAN fans is absolutely beyond me.

Perhaps their "new direction" is all about Tyler Perry. "Medea vs Mahogany" anyone???
