very awesome! i have a feeling this movie is going to be great. knowing the DVD will be full of extras (maybe an UNRATED edition as well?) is exciting. something cool to look forward to.

Um, is everybody forgetting how freaking terrible these movies are?
There is no way this is going to be a good movie. We might as well start painting our walls and watching it dry.

People forget that the FT13 movies made in the 80's and 90's were great for that era. They may seem cheesy now that everything is more sophisticated, but I'm sure this remake will be nothing but top notch.Jason Voorhees is a pop icon, and I'm sure this movie will be well worth seeing.

I always wait the unrated versions of the friday the 13th movies and i think that now is the right time...I mean Jason goes to hell,Jason X and Freddy vs.Jason come with both version rated and unrated so i don't know what is paramount pictures waiting for.
Posted by: Zombie Dude on June 7, 2008 at 22:51:00
I don't really care for a re-released box set that includes the new Friday. I want to see the other Friday's get some better treatment. Unrated cuts, new transfers, special features etc.
I hope this new Friday gets released in a steelbook. Those things are awesome.

I think you're mistaken, Romeo. I have never seen an unrated version of any of these films.

You guys are crazy if you think this will be a good film. Sure, Jason is a classic (though he has always been my least favorite of the big 3, including Mike Myers and Freddy Kruger). Look at what they did with Halloween. The scenes they copied (Mike in a ghost sheet) were done poorly, and then it contined to devolve, lacking virtually all the great nuances of the original. i did like the view at Myers' past and his stay in the mental hospital, but once it caught up with the Halloween as we knew it, it spiraled downhill. I suspect the exact same for this remake, except they will really screw it up.
Remember, Jason is only in the original for approximately 30 seconds. I am sure they will leave his mom out all together to score big on the action figure line with Jason. Hacks!

Romeo is only right about JGTH having both unrated and rated cuts included.
Bolicked, you're forgetting that Halloween was directed by Rob Zombie, no one should have expected it to be good. I think the Friday remake has a good chance of being good.

I highly doubt that their will be a complete boxset including all of the Friday films. I mean, Paramount owns the first 8 and they released a boxset after Jason Goes To Hell and I believe it also came after Jason X. Paramount and New Line didn't work together than and I doubt it will happen now.
I agree that the original F13s need better releases. I want more than a $6.99 cheap DVD.

great news. I hope they are already thinking about a sequel too.

Yormomsayshi is right! The movies from the 80s were terrible so a brand new one by a whole different film crew will be just as bad!
Do people even think before they post their opinions?
Posted by: The Chud on June 8, 2008 at 11:56:53
Bolicked, they've already cast Jason's mother, if I remember correctly Nana Visitor was cast to play her. Not sure what sort of role she'll have, but she's in it regardless.

You guys are forgetting that this Friday the 13th is not a remake. The producers said it themselves that the movie is going to be an extension of the first few films

How about not make it?
How about give the original movies a 2 disc set release?
How about Platinum Dunes goes out of business or make something that's not in name only?
Good god these things are as horrible as the films coming out in the late 80's/early 90's.
Back in the day, when you had a horror movie that was popular, other studios made similar films with different names, as to not insult the audience.
Posted by: francesco on June 9, 2008 at 06:01:31
i just hope that Platinum dunes will get an open ending to the movie. Jason must live with all his arms on. No as latherface did.
I want a sequel to this.
Posted by: Zombie Dude on June 9, 2008 at 07:35:59
Leatherface can have a sequel, he'll just be one arm short. Platinum Dunes have shown interest in doing one.

Don't release another f13 box set like crysta lake to manhattan. i have been waiting 20+ years to see the full uncut versions of every f13 movie since 1985. I am sick and tired of all the stalling, lying from Paramount and Sean S. Cunningham himself about the uncut footage. THere's 40+ missing from the original. Brenda's on screen death when mrs voorhees shoots her w/ an arrow. Bill's 2 alternate deaths. THERE WERE 2!!! Mr. Christy's knife to the stomach where it tears his coat and he falls all the way out of the screen and CLAUDETTE!!!!!!! + The rest of the series. No one wants STOCK footage!!! Edit it in!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!

jed shut up. right now i need another boxset of the 13 films.
Posted by: Zombie Dude on June 10, 2008 at 07:05:07
Jed's right, we need uncut versions of the films.
I've never heard of those missing scenes from the first film. Where did you find out about them?
Posted by: jed on June 12, 2008 at 21:12:58
Zombie
I owned the uncut footage years ago. Rather get into the reasons why their not in my posession anymore, i will just say this. F13 has been an obsession of mine for years. Brenda's on screen death was the scariest scene (for me) in cinematic history. Bill's 2 deleted deaths were equally as impressive. On the original Vendredi 13 (warner bros) vhs tape that was available in the early 80s contained a death scene where bill goes into the generator room and he is stabbed in the hand then his throat is slit. he falls to the ground and mrs voorhees carries him outside. thus explaining how he ended up on the post. it was VERY graphic. On a very old (now extinct) "Georgetown productions" vhs tape that had a curved spine and hard plastic case, bill died on the archery range, shortly after brenda was killed. he was SHOT in the eye with an arrow. plus ... claudette's death WAS filmed in the earliest releases to vhs and beta. on the vendredi 13 vhs tape her death was on in full. Mr christy's death was also longer. i remember the ripped yellow raincoat and bloody knife like it was yesterday. i just want to see the entire version like it was meant to be seen. so everyone else can see it too.

sorry ... bill ended up on the door ... not post.
